Introducing our playwright!

Grazia Marin is a visual artist and creative writer whose artistic practice often focuses on activism. Her subject matter includes social and political issues and the position of women in societies. She has had numerous solo art exhibitions, exploring various mediums. Her writing includes fiction for children and adults and several of Grazia’s nature and political poems have been published in anthologies. She was lyricist for Ensemble Volante’s new work Regermination: Songs of Solace and Renewal in the Australian Landscape, which toured Victoria in 2022. In recent years Grazia has incorporated play writing into her practice, including monologues. Why Can’t Women Be Like Men? was Grazia’s debut long form theatre work which draws on her many years as a counselling psychologist.

Introducing our director!

Stephanie Lee is an emerging q***r feminist director, theatre-maker and stage manager who graduated with a Masters of Theatre Directing from the VCA in 2023. In 2022 Steph received a Green Room Award Nomination for co-writing 'A Zoom Group Project: The Musical' (The Butterfly Club), which she also directed. Most recently, they co-wrote and directed ‘Checked Out: The Musical’ for Melbourne Fringe 2025 which was a Judge’s Pick (Solidarity Hall). This year they also directed and co-devised ‘SLAY’ (Explosives Factory) which was received critical praise as ’the best original theatre I’ve seen in Melbourne for a long time’ (Theatre Travels). For Midsumma 2024 they revived Declan Greene’s early work ‘HOME ECONOMICS’ after a sold out run for her 2023 VCA grad show (Explosives Factory). In the last few years they have interned on ‘Looking For Alibrandi’ at Malthouse (dir. Stephen Nicolazzo), ‘Wolf Play’ at Red Stitch (dir. Isabella Vadiveloo), and ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ at Princess Theatre (resident dir. David Spencer). Their recent stage management highlights include: ASM on ‘A Nighttime Travesty’ (Malthouse 2025), PM/SM for both Western Edge’s Edge Ensembles Program 2024/2025 and VUSC school program 2025, ASM on ‘STORKED’ for Antipodes Theatre Company (Theatre Works 2025) and SM for ‘Threadbare’ by Tomas Parrish-Chynoweth (St Martins 2025).

Introducing Gioia!

Piera Dennerstein is a seasoned crossover performer with a myriad of theatrical experiences in an array of dramatic contexts. Her acting training began with classes at the National Theatre Drama School and continued in numerous forms through her undergraduate and postgraduate operatic studies. She has spent the last 8 years (when possible) touring with cabaret/variety company Finucane & Smith. Piera debuted her full-length solo show, Pursuing Pleasure, in 2024. This work toured nationally in 2025 and has garnered 5 star reviews, won the Fringe World Weekly Award and been nominated for both Best Small Cabaret and the Artistic Merit Award at Newcastle Fringe.
