Pub goers and members of the public will now be able to experience art in their favourite watering hole as Melbourne artists from all different walks of life get ready to showcase different art genres under one roof in an open gallery exhibition. The ‘Pub Art Hub’ will be housed at the stylish Prince Maximilian Hotel in Prahran for eight weeks from Friday 11 November and is inviting keen art follo

Abstract artists and founder of Pub Art Hub Helen Pollard said: “Pub Art Hub – The Publican Gallery was born from the idea of breaking away from the norm of displaying my artwork in a gallery. Entry into exhibitions and galleries can be expensive and I wanted to develop a concept whereby members of the public can embrace all styles of art under one roof. What better setting then a pub to enjoy the talent that Melbourne artists have to offer.”
Ben Maros Venue Manger of The Prince Maximilian and co-founder of Pub Art Hub said: “The Melbourne art scene is massive but it can be crowded as artists flock to showcase their work in many of the city’s shops, bars and restaurants. The Pub Art Hub is a great concept for the hotel as it will give our customers an experience they will never forget.”
“We’ve decided to extend the concept of Pub Art Hub across twelve more hotels in the chain over the next three years, offering art lovers and members of the public the chance to enjoy the talents of local artists whilst in the comforts of a great pub location.”
In addition to the exhibition inside the Hotel the artists will be working on a public art installation on the outside of the building. The public will be able to see the artists in action as they reveal a snapshot of their artwork and their creative practice. The Live Art public art installation will take place on the 5 and 6 of November. BRETT WILLIS has developed an exciting concept for the exhibition – StonningTOON - a caricature collection of cool celebrities, sexy sports stars, community cuties and fabulous friends who live or work in the famous Melbourne City of Stonnington! These include Rachel Berger, CR Melina Sehr, Paul Licuria, Peter Alexander, John Milhuissen, Matt Preston, Chrissie Swan, Olivia Newton John and many more.
