Taking to the piano at a young age, Lucy developed quickly as a gifted pianist and vocalist. She recognised early that she had a passion for performing as a soloist and accompanist and this has defined her career ever since.
While studying at the Canberra School of Music, she worked extensively as a singer/pianist, and was working constantly as an accompanist. From 1996 to 2000 she was the resident pianist at Government House.
Her career as a musical director began in Canberra in 1998 with ‘The Hot Mikado’.
Prior to her move to Sydney to fill the role of Assistant Musical Director for Strictly Ballroom, Lucy had been MD for Sweet Charity, I love you, You’re Perfect, Now Change, Chess, 42nd Street, Guys and Dolls and Singing in the Rain. Her list of credits as assistant MD and repetiteur is even longer.
She is sought after as a cabaret pianist and has worked with Queenie Van De Zandt and Angelique Cassimatis in the Blue Saint production of ‘Guilty Pleasures’.
Lucy’s years in the Australian Army Band Corps saw her perform with, and arrange for the likes of John Farnham, Guy Sebastien, Kylie Minogue, Doc Neeson, Marina Prior and David Harris.
She was most recently the Musical Director for the Blue Saint Productions Violet for which she won Best Musical Director at the 2015 Sydney Theatre Awards.
She has been a rehearsal pianist for Matilda The Musical and most recently, Aladdin. She is a tutor and accompanist at the Australian Institute of Music and The McDonald College and a private tutor of piano.
