Last Days - NEAT
Neurological Exploration of Art that is Tactile
Facilitated by Verity Jasmin Burley
Onkaparinga Gallery
until 4pm Monday 12 October

This project and exhibition opened during Dementia Awareness Week and provided an inclusive platform for people living with dementia to design, co-create or collaborate on, and present their own hand-made glass art works authentically.
The act of making glass fostered dignity-of-risk for often underrepresented or socially excluded individuals, due to their cognitive, psychosocial or physical limitations. This exhibition offered the opportunity for people who live with dementia in our communities the chance to articulate their role as active citizens while demonstrating how meaningful engagement is essential to social and cultural wellbeing.

SURF 2026
EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST ARE OPEN.
This summer tradition is a highlight of the southern arts calendar. Open to artists nationwide, Surf 2026 invites work that explores the essence of surf life: the camaraderie of dawn sessions, the evolution of surf craft, and the rituals, legends and lived experiences that continue to inspire.
Surf 2026 celebrates the heart of our region’s surf culture, the stories, traditions and community that has shaped generations of waveriders. From early surf pioneers to today’s surf clubs, board-shapers, and beachside gatherings, the exhibition honours the people and moments that define our surfing identity. Surf 2026 will be on from 4 December - 25 January 2027.

Look what's coming up at Sauerbier House. Onkaparinga Arts - Sauerbier House
Join Jorji Gardener in this workshop, where bird watching meets artmaking. Saturday October 3, 10:00 AM - midday.

Discover the Birds in Your Community | Create Postcards with Jorji Gardener.
Saturday October 3 | 10:00am to 12:00pm

This engaging workshop offers a friendly introduction to birdwatching, with a focus on recognising local birds by sight and sound. You'll learn practical birdwatching skills, explore ethical birding practices, and discover techniques for observing birds with greater confidence.
Participants will discover how birdsong can be visualised through spectrograms before experimenting with ways to translate sound into visual form. Inspired by bird call recordings, you'll explore watercolours, collage, pencils, and stamps to create a series of illustrated postcards that interpret the unique character of each bird's call.
This workshop is ideal for beginner birdwatchers and anyone wanting to deepen their knowledge of local birds. It is suited to people who are curious about the natural world and interested in building a stronger connection with the birdlife in their local area.
No prior birdwatching or art experience is necessary.
Tickets $60 (plus booking fee)
All materials will be provided along with a light morning tea.
This is a nature festival event.
