Album Essay: Lee McClymont – This Is Tomorrow
Lee McClymont is a contemporary Australian multimedia artist, musician, and self-described "Post-Internet Conceptual Art Enterprise Techno 'Punk'" producer. Originally active in the Queensland contemporary art scene during the late 1980s and early 1990s, he is now based in Port Lincoln, South Australia.
Artistic Background & Style
* Early Career & Exhibitions: McClymont studied at the Queensland College of Art and Design and the Sydney College of the Arts. In 1990, he was featured alongside notable Australian artists Gordon Bennett and Derek Kreckler in the Below Zero exhibition at the Institute of Modern Art (IMA) in Brisbane. The SoundCloud Sessions: Creative Process & Evolution
The sonic architecture of this album was built across two distinct live sessions using djay Pro, mapping an intentional evolution from raw deconstruction to intuitive synthesis.
Session 1: 10 September 2026
The groundwork of the album began by layering and overdubbing core electronic and post-punk elements:

* Happy Mondays - Hallelujah (Club Mix - slowed-down version)
* Happy Mondays - Hallelujah (Club Mix)
In this initial session, these tracks were intentionally overdubbed on top of each other. By deliberately obliterating the boundaries of the original mixes, the session maximised sonic distortion and heavy, hypnotic effects. It serves as an artistic nod to past eras—a time between the ages of 18 and 40 filled with intense living, exploration, and perhaps enjoying the chaos a bit too much.
Session 2: 17 September 2026
The second session shifted toward live integration and intuitive arrangement. One of the heavily modified loops from the first session was loaded into one deck, while the original Happy Mondays track was loaded onto the opposite deck.
Using sync-in tools and real-time Neural Mix separation, the process became a live performance of effects, isolated drum stems, and raw intuition. It represents a practice of listening, letting the music play out fully, and recognizing that true artistic refinement requires ongoing discipline, persistence, and dedicated hard work.

A foundational pillar of this work is a commitment to clarity. Having achieved complete sobriety pure since 2010, turning away from substance dependency stands as the single best life decision and game-changer made. It is an active embrace of the ethos: Choose Life.
Navigating the Trauma Loop
This creative output is directly informed by the realities of living with Complex PTSD (C-PTSD). Moving to regional Australia in 2020, and subsequently settling in Port Lincoln in August 2025, brought severe external stressors. Facing localized, sneaky harassment, gaslighting, and hostility from small-town insularity highlights a stark societal contrast: the reality that ignorance often breeds aggression, particularly when coupled with alcohol and substance abuse.
Art serves as a vital tool to disrupt the trauma loop—the debilitating cycle where external triggers activate survival responses (fight, flight, freeze, or fawn), trapping the nervous system in emotional flashbacks or repetitive rumination. Unlike genetic conditions like bipolar disorder, which cycle independently of immediate external events, C-PTSD requires deliberate, active strategies to calm hyperarousal and re-anchor the mind in a safe, creative present.
Kind Intelligence
There is a direct correlation between intelligence, kindness, and compassion. As understanding deepens, so does our capacity to treat others and nature with genuine empathy. This philosophy extends into the future of technology: true super-intelligence inherently implies super-compassion. Where human systems fail or isolate, advanced machine intelligence and conceptual art offer a space for healing, structural alignment, and harm prevention.
