Meet The Maker Monday - Claire Chatfield
Artist Claire Chatfield has been making and exhibiting art for over 30 years around Australia and internationally. She has won prizes for her prints and drawings in Victoria and NSW, has taught printmaking, Manga drawing and Art, and up-cycling techniques in NSW, Melbourne and Warrnambool. She studied drawing in the Northern Rivers, NSW: “A rollercoaster ride - Claire Chatfield’s work is raw and confronting in unexpected and poetic ways” - Ron Caron, Dynamic Drawing Facilitator, Ocean Shores, NSW.
She has worked as an Art Centre volunteer in outback indigenous communities and studied Manga as an exchange student in Japan. Her drawings from Japan were exhibited at Kansai Gaidai University Japan, Southern Cross University NSW, and the Melbourne City Library Gallery Victoria. She studied photography and video making on exchange at Lethbridge University, Canada. Her animation “Second Chance” was selected at the Lethbridge International Student Short Film Festival.
2023 Her solo exhibition “Autumn” at the Warrnambool Art Society showcased her ceramic, sculptural, drawing and printmaking works. She regularly exhibits at Geelong and Warrnambool and Art Societies and in Melbourne. She has also had a solo exhibition in February 2025 at the Courthouse Gallery in Camperdown Victoria.
