In front I White Ripple and Daffodil Ripple
Hand-built Ceramic
White and Daffodil Ripple iare part of a series of wall-based ceramic works featured in A Moment in Time by Stefan Gevers.
Drawing inspiration from the rhythms and patterns found in nature, Gevers transforms clay into sculptural forms that seem to pulse with movement and energy.
Throughout his practice, Stefan explores themes of timing, repetition, and transformation. Whether working in watercolour or clay, he is interested in the subtle structures that connect us to the natural world and the moments of beauty that emerge through careful observation.
The wall ceramics in A Moment in Time offer a striking counterpoint to the exhibition's paintings, extending Stefan's exploration of landscape into three-dimensional form through colour, texture, and gesture.

Meet the Maker – Roger Bellchambers

After more than 40 years of sheep farming and a career as a toolmaker, Roger Bellchambers embraced retirement as an opportunity to focus on what he has always loved—making, fixing, inventing and creating.

Since moving to Port Fairy with his wife Jenny, Roger has channelled his creativity into landscaping, woodworking, metalwork and sculpture. A founding supporter of South West Makers and the Glyph Gallery, he has contributed countless hours helping to build and improve community spaces.

Roger creates bespoke timber bowls, furniture and sculptural works, often using timber discovered during his travels. His workshop is filled with self-built machinery and inventive projects, reflecting a lifelong curiosity and passion for problem-solving.

Most recently, Roger has transformed an old tank, pump, motor, belt and reclaimed steel into a working water pump—another example of his remarkable ability to see potential in discarded materials and turn ideas into reality.

Coastal View
Watercolour on Paper
Featured in A Moment in Time, Coastal View reflects Stefan Gevers' enduring fascination with landscape as both a physical place and a lived experience.
Through expansive washes of colour and layered observations, Gevers explores our relationship to the environments we inhabit. His work invites viewers to consider landscape not as a fixed image, but as a collection of interconnected forms, histories, and perspectives.
As the artist writes:
"A Moment in Time presents our current place in the landscape. A landscape that is divided historically and culturally. Every landscape and place of being has individuality as well as a relation to other landscapes and the same is true for the forms within that make it up."
This exploration of connection, separation, and observation continues throughout Gevers' practice, where partially observed landscapes become pictorial elements that shift between abstraction and recognition.
Stefan Gevers is a Melbourne-based artist who graduated from the AKI College of Art, The Netherlands, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Working predominantly in watercolour, ceramics, and acrylic on canvas, his work is held in major collections including Artbank, the National Australia Bank Collection, the State Library of Victoria, the State Library of Queensland, Peter MacCallum, and numerous private collections throughout Australia and beyond.
