Meet the maker - Geordie Allardice (Dip Vis Art. BA Fine Art. MA Vis Art.)

Geordie’s passion for visual arts was, at times, almost an obsession. As a self-taught artist, he participated in several art shows, earning a highly commended award at the Port Fairy Lions Art Show. This recognition inspired him to pursue formal training, leading to a scholarship to study at South-West TAFE, where he graduated with a Diploma in Visual Arts.
During the final year of his diploma course, Geordie also began studies at Deakin University. In 2003, he completed a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Arts), earning an award for the best graduating painting. His creative journey then expanded into other fields, including fashion, screen-printing, textiles, and bookbinding, through various certificate courses and individual units designed to broaden his skills.
Following this, he held a solo exhibition at Blarney Books and, in 2009, returned to university, this time at Monash University. After several years of study, he achieved a Master’s in Visual Arts.
Geordie’s artistic practice continues to flourish, encompassing painting as well as crafting wands and walking sticks with a mystical aesthetic. These unique creations have been sold at Fletcher Jones in Warrnambool, Blarney Books and Glyph Gallery in Port Fairy. In addition to visual arts, he also enjoys writing short stories and novels, with one of his short stories recently published.
