🐦🎻 The birds and the Beethoven.

Come find yourself amongst the sounds of the Australian bush and the extraordinary music of Beethoven with the Darlington Concerts with 'Full Flight'.

Inspired by Henry Kendall’s 1869 poem Bell Birds, Australian composer Emma Jayakumar’s atmospheric work brings the bush to life through music, drawing on the calls of Bell Birds, Golden Whip Birds, Djidi Djidi (W***y Wagtails), Currawongs and Bar-shouldered Doves.

Then, the Darlington Quartet takes flight with Beethoven’s groundbreaking String Quartet Op. 18 No. 1 – a work full of tempestuous energy, tenderness and virtuosic brilliance.

From the bittersweet beauty of the Adagio, inspired by the crypt scene in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, to the exhilarating Scherzo and high-energy finale, this is a musical journey that moves from the Australian bush to the heights of Beethoven’s imagination.

Enter the intimate world of To Be Human – a captivating collaboration blending soulful vocals, evocative songwriting, piano, strings and electric guitar. Personal, atmospheric and deeply human, this is music that gets under your skin.

Or will you choose William Barton & David Griffiths?
Prepare for Breath of Life, as didgeridoo virtuoso William Barton joins acclaimed clarinetist David Griffiths in a powerful meeting of First Nations and classical musical traditions – an immersive and transformative experience connecting ancient culture with contemporary artistry.

Two concerts. Two very different journeys. One impossible choice.

Whether your passion lies in beautifully crafted songs and stunning vocals, or in the exhilarating fusion of ancient traditions and virtuosic musicianship, Saturday evening offers a concert experience to inspire and delight.

After the difficult decision has been made, everyone comes together again for our late-night performance, Beyond Bach, with Michelle Nicolle, one of Australia’s most acclaimed jazz vocalists.

GK: Rise of Greatness posters are starting to pop up – and if you haven’t got your tickets yet, consider this your sign! We were sent this poster from GK's team - and we're impressed!

South West Victoria’s own Grace Kenny – aka GK (Greatness Known) – is bringing Rise of Greatness to the Port Fairy Spring Music Festival this October.

A spoken word poet, hip hop artist and powerhouse performer, GK will reimagine her debut 2026 EP live alongside Black Square String Quartet and friends, bringing together spoken word, hip hop and live strings for one seriously high-energy album launch.

Following sold-out shows, interstate tours and feature artist slots on Triple J, this is a chance to catch one of our region’s most exciting artists doing something very special right here in Port Fairy.

Honing my new show at a private warm-up house concert. The first public performance will be to a sold-out show in my hometown of Ballarat this Saturday, with Port Fairy Spring Music Festival in October, and then Melbourne in early 2027, alongside the release of the album 'A.WAKE'.

The first single 'I Am the Arrow' is coming soon – early October.

🎷 Saxy Strings - Bionic Bebop Meets Jazzy Jives

Come find yourself somewhere between sizzling swing, cool jazz and a little late-night musical mischief. 🎶

The brilliant Black Square Quartet joins forces with acclaimed saxophonist, clarinettist, improviser and composer Martin Kay for a genre-defying late-night rollercoaster of tremendous tunes and suave sounds.

The program features three works by prolific Brisbane composer Robert Davidson, including a world premiere written especially for Festival Co-Artistic Director Monica Curro.

Add sizzling swing, cool jazz and sonic cameo appearances from three “Elvis impersonators” and the Sugar Plum Fairy, and you have a performance that promises to be anything but predictable!
