🎣 Got a Favourite Fish Recipe? Why Not Share It? We’re celebrating National Gone Fishing Day in Port Albert on Sunday 18 October 2026, a day celebrating fishing, food, community and the great outdoors!

As part of the celebrations, we’re creating a free online Fish Recipe Showcase featuring favourite fish recipes from local residents and businesses.

We want YOU to be part of it! 🐟🍽️

Send us your favourite fish recipe and we’ll add it to the Visit Port Albert website, along with your name. These recipes will be freely available for everyone to browse and download.

It couldn’t be easier (and a bit of fun)

1. Type your recipe (or attach it) to an email OR take a photo of your handwritten recipe with your phone.
2. Include your name.
3. Email your recipe to [email protected]

Your recipe could become part of a collection of great local fish recipes shared with visitors and the wider community.

With town-wide fish-themed food specials and competitions happening as part of National Gone Fishing Day, there will be plenty of reasons to get involved and be in Port Albert!

🎣 Celebrate fishing. Celebrate community. Celebrate Port Albert.
Submit your recipe today!

🧚 What a fantastic day of creativity, colour and community spirit at the Fairy Door Trail Art Session held at the Port Albert Hall today! ✨

We had an excellent turnout, with everyone bringing plenty of enthusiasm and imagination to create their own beautifully decorated miniature fairy doors. It was a wonderful, fun-filled day enjoyed by all!

Once the doors have been sealed and prepared, they will become part of the existing Fairy Door Trail across Yarram and Port Albert for locals and visitors to discover and enjoy.

So, keep your eyes open as you explore Yarram and Port Albert — you may just discover one of these magical little doors! 🧚‍♀️✨

A huge congratulations and thank you to Deb Eldridge Photography for organising such a wonderful and creative community activity. Well done, Deb! 👏

🌟 New Volunteer Skills & Leadership Program - FREE for Volunteers! The Port Albert Progress Association (PAPA) is excited to launch the Skills, Confidence & Leadership Development Program, part of the 'Strengthening Rural Communities' initiative by the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR).

Regional communities rely on volunteers, but many don’t have the skills in like administration, finance, marketing, fundraising, and event management.

This program aims to upskill and empower local volunteers, building confidence and encouraging active participation in community initiatives.

💡 Program highlights:

• Training in administration, governance, finance, marketing & event management
• Attracting new volunteers, especially retired or semi-retired residents
• Strengthening local leadership and community sustainability
• Enhancing local events, tourism, and community programs.

“Many people want to help but lack confidence or experience,” says Robert Durrant, Project Facilitator. “This program gives them the skills, knowledge, and confidence to get involved and share their wisdom with the community.”

This program is available to volunteer run organisations from Woodside, Carrajung, Devon North, Yarram, Tarraville, Alberton, Port Albert, and Welshpool. Majority of the sessions will be free to attend!

Let’s build a stronger, more resilient community together! 💪🌱
For more information contact Robert Durrant on 0413 476 423 or visit the program page on the Visit Port Albert website...
