"Down by the Sally Gardens" takes you from tango grooves to timeless folk melodies, this concert brings together danceable music and beloved song traditions. Join the musicians of Southern Cross Soloists, including Grammy-winning flute player Tim Munro, for a program that moves from the fierce grooves of Piazzolla’s Histoire du Tango to high-energy dance works and playful solo works. The Acoustic Guitar Spectacular returns in 2026 to the Majestic Theatre Pomona this coming Saturday night 29th August at 7pm.
Featuring three outstanding Australian guitarists together for one night of exceptional acoustic music. Hosted by internationally recognised guitarist Michael Fix, the concert highlights the skill, precision and creativity that have made this series a favourite with Queensland audiences.

Joining him are Jason McGregor and Craig Claxton, two highly respected musicians with distinct styles. McGregor is a national fingerstyle champion known for his versatile musicianship and soulful vocal work. His performances have taken him across Australia and internationally, earning industry awards and a strong following. Claxton brings over 50 years of experience, shaped by blues, rock and jazz influences. He has performed with a long list of celebrated Australian artists and remains a sought-after guitarist, educator and session player.

Together, Fix, McGregor and Claxton present a diverse program that spans multiple styles and influences. The 2026 Acoustic Guitar Spectacular offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience three accomplished players share the stage, each bringing their own voice and musical history to this much-loved annual event.

Take a trip down the highway with country runaway Dorothy (introducing Joy Dunstan), as she journeys to the city to catch the farewell concert of rock superstar, The Wizard (Graham Matters).

Joining her along the way are a surfie who can’t find the beach (Bruce Spence), a bikie who can’t stand violence (Gary Waddell), a mechanic who sabotages other peoples engines (Michael Carman),and a towering 15-stone truckie (‘Ned’ Kelly) whose monstrous big rig keeps menacingly appearing.

Featuring a seminal Australian soundtrack by Ross Wilson and Jo Jo Zep including the hit single ‘Living In The Land Of Oz’.
