The Majestic Theatre was built in 1921 and caters for all types of community events. It has gained recognition as the world’s only authentic silent picture house still in operation today. Under the ownership and management of Pomona Arts Inc, a major refurbishment was carried out in 2006, with funding from the Federal Government’s Regional Partnership Program, the Queensland Government, the then N

oosa Council and many community groups and individuals. The Majestic Theatre combines the old-world charm of a Twenties theatre with modern-day sound and lighting and has the capacity to host events to suit all ages and tastes.

SILENT FILM - "BEYOND THE ROCKS" SWANSON & VALINTINO
Its great weather for watching movies so head down to the Majestic Theatre Pomona at lunchtime tomorrow June 13th for our regular Silent Film. Doors and bar open at 11am. Movie screens at 12 noon and tickets are just $15 and free for kids 13 and under.

This week we feature Gloria Swanson and Rudolph Valintino in "Beyond the Rocks". a 1922 American silent romantic drama film directed by Sam Wood. The film was long considered lost but a nitrate print of it was discovered in the Netherlands in 2003.

ABOUT THE STARS
Gloria Mae Josephine Swanson (March 27, 1899 – April 4, 1983) was an American actress. She first achieved fame acting in dozens of silent films in the 1920s and was nominated three times for the Academy Award for Best Actress, most famously for her 1950 turn in Billy Wilder's Sunset Boulevard, which also earned her a Golden Globe Award. She was married 6 times and died at the age of 84.

Rodolfo Pietro Filiberto Raffaele Guglielmi di Valentina d'Antonguolla (May 6, 1895 – August 23, 1926), known professionally as Rudolph Valentino or mononymously as Valentino, was an Italian-born actor and dancer. Dubbed the Latin Lover, he became one of the most iconic stars of American silent cinema and an enduring symbol of old Hollywood glamour. Rising to international fame in the early 1920s, Valentino was celebrated for his exotic screen persona, romantic intensity, and expressive performances, which helped redefine male stardom during the silent era. His on-screen image—sensual, passionate, and unconventional by the standards of the time—made him the first screen s*x symbol, which provoked both fervent adoration and cultural backlash, making him a lightning rod in debates about masculinity, s*xuality, and modernity in the 1920s. His sudden death in 1926 at the age of 31 from complications of peritonitis following surgery for appendicitis and gastric ulcers triggered mass public mourning, cementing his status as a legendary figure of early cinema.

What a couple of legends !!!

Yani told me today she was so enthralled by the show for our launch of Synthetic Lover, she didn’t feel like pulling her phone out once… except to capture this moment with Frank sacrificing himself for the drawing with music on francais, and a shot of me trying to splain Skye I knew what I was singing all along, and feeling chuffed next to my wing woman, Julia who took the batton for this ‘cunning stunt’ as Yani put it…
