Trying to catch up with things I should have on my page.

I was asked last year by a work colleague of my daughter, if I could make a jewellery box in a heart shape for a five year wedding anniversary. Always up for a challenge, so I got to work on how it was all going to work out with things like, cut out templates, hinges, sculpting, precise measurements and more.

The pictures show the journey.

Three consignment cutting boards from a customer who purchased a board at the Australia Day market in Picton.

That big board is one piece and a huge 600 x 530 x 35mm with lifting handles cut into the sides.

All set, just need a good crowd. There are more community stalls than independent ones - here's hoping!

So the trailer is packed ready for an early morning drive to arrive at Picton by 5.50am.
This is the end result of my previous post. Just need a good crowd as the market is only half a day 8am - 12pm.

I also have other items of burl bowls, cheese boards and table lamps.

Oh my goodness. My floor lamp base is a cyborg with one of those funny eyes!

I applied for a stall at Picton on Australia Day and should hear this week if I was successful. Meanwhile, I'm under the pump to create some stock for the event. In the mix are, spoons, spatulas, cutting boards, a coffee table and a floor lamp and a big charcuterie board with legs- at this stage.

Words cannot express of the overwhelming pleasure i hadhow with the response I received from all the guys in the band when I presented the serving platter I made for them on the first night of the cruise. They absolutely loved it. The gift of giving is very rewarding. Thank you, Oscar, Adrian, Hatz and Caros.

The very beginnings of a gift for a great Band of guys I have got to know during my last few cruises. I can't say or show anymore until after they receive it. Must be finished before March 2nd, 2024.

It took a little longer than expected however, my wood kiln is finally operational. Insulated, lined and sealed and made predominately from pallets. It operates by using a dehumidifier and a fan to help circulate the air. The dehumidifier draws moisture from the wood and expels it a bucket outside the kiln.

The wood shown inside the kiln, has been air drying for about 16 months and still has a general moisture level of 15%, still needing to be reduced to at least 10%.
After 3 days with temperatures reaching 55°c inside, 5 litres of water was expelled and reducing the general moisture level to around 7-8%.

Very happy with the results. It has been repacked and running a second lot of Camphor Laurel.

Special thanks to Lea Cave Hilton for the pallets.

From concept to creation, consignment for a chap who was looking for something different other than what he citified find on the web. An original unique, bespoke product he can be proud of. Made from Mountain Blackwood and finished with Livos Hard Wax Oil. Challenging along the way, but that's how I like it. Without the actual watch at hand, I had to rely on the owner to be very precise with measurements and dimensions. Several templates posted to him as a guide to ensure the watch would fit.

Finally finished. The Callala RSL Country Club Fisho's Competition Board. Made from a Pine tree which was being removed in my street a few years ago. Slabbed, dried and milled by myself. Two edges and a centre piece laminated together to give the full branch look. Black epoxy resin filled laser engraving, metal plates to hold rewritable plastic magnets.

Naturally as the creator, I had to use it first. It will be officially unveiled at the Fishing Club's annual Christmas function in a couple of weeks.

Yes, I have been invited 😁
