Ok folks. One of the monitors in the room is buggered (you guessed it, blown tweeter module again) and the level on it was completely maxed out. Meaning that someone has switched things on and/or off in the wrong order at max volume.

I would have hated to be in the room when that happened.

Since my suggestions for avoiding this kind of thing haven’t worked, I’d like someone out there to tell me what to do to stop my speakers from blowing up.

I shouldn’t have to make basic controls inaccessible. Nor should I have to keep putting my hand in my pocket for people who can’t take care with the gear. So short of those, tell me what to do.

I’m out of ideas.

Today we need to set the record straight.

Both myself and Dan have tried to give benefit of the doubt and to help the music industry as a whole, but Dan’s good nature has been taken advantage of and today that stops.

On behalf of Black Dog Music, I have today lodged a matter with QCAT for ruling due to invoices unpaid by Silverback Touring & Delta Bravo Touring. Despite promises to pay, there has been no payments over the past almost 12 months. This is not just for ‘work’ that Dan did, but tour expenses – vehicle hire, petrol, tour posters etc.

We would also like to confirm that the HEAT posters currently being advertised for sale on the Silverback Touring page remain the property of Black Dog Music as they HAVE NOT been paid for and Black Dog Music does not consent to them being sold.

We will not debate this or engage in discussion, but we await a decision via QCAT and look forward to having this matter resolved ASAP.

Welcome to the end of the weekend, rockstars! If you’re anything like me, you’ll have had a reasonably productive day, and it’s time to kick back in your favourite chair with a cheeky beverage and watch MAFS.

News just in: I’ve finally been able to replace the stolen drum equipment from a while ago, and also have the Headrush tweeter module replaced - again. The kit is once again complete, so all you “two up, one down” types will be happy again. The Ludwig throne is still properly rooted, so still bring your own for now please 😊 oh and the Bugera head is back in service as well.

It’s been just over two years since Tracey and I took the place over from that miserable Hooton fellow (luv ya Geoff), and I know that I have had some proper rages over things on occasion - even tried to sell the place. I just wanted to let y’all know that we appreciate each and every one of you for supporting us over that time. You help us keep the lights on (literally) every month, and bring us closer to having the place fully operational.

Next week, I’ve got a very special guest in the studio for some preproduction work. He’s worked with some reasonably well-known folks, so quite frankly I’m beyond humbled to have a man I love like the father I never had weaving his magic in my little ol’ studio. More on that later.

In the meantime, David has given Alyssa a public dressing-down, and Danny and Bec are having a chat. I’m away.

Wanted: bassist and drummer for new covers project to join vocalist and guitarist (potentially second guitarist). Permanent rehearsal space on Northside, access to venue that isn’t dominated by an agent and with potential for residency.

If you are interested churning out unpolished covers of Brown Eyed Girl, Flame Trees, Wagon Wheel, Drive (I could bang on forever but I won’t), then this gig isn’t for you. This gig IS for you if at least some of the following apply to you:

* You’ve got a reasonable set of skills
* You’ve got reliable gear and transport
* You don’t mind putting in the grind to deliver a polished performance
* If you have other projects that’s ok, but this one doesn’t go on the back burner
* You arrive at rehearsal sessions with your homework done

We aren’t gig-ready. We’re still working through material and don’t even have a name yet - although we have tossed around a few terrible ideas and a couple of maybes. Probably won’t be having our first gig until the second half of the year. And sometimes we’ll be gigging for a beer tab, so none of us will be buying a jetski just yet. But if things come together in the way I hope they will, the next 12 months are gonna be a blast.

There’s also something else - a big project involving big rocks. Those who know, know.

Once again, Elliot at Guitar Restoration has delivered…my workhorse since Black Creek Band (way back when) has been neglected for just over two years (there were reasons). Full workover and tapered volume pots installed. Poor guy had to figure out the FRX trem on-the-fly. A thorough test drive at the studio tonight, and she didn’t skip a beat (I may have skipped a couple though). Now, some of you may be having absolute kittens over a Les Paul with a floating bridge, but don’t underestimate the power of the Dark Side. This thing is a weapon.

Oh and I’ve got a couple of announcements (?) coming up. More on that over the weekend.
