I didn't even know this place existed before I got there. The stories I find along the way and don't spend weeks planning, usually turn out to be the best parts of the adventure and content. Turkey held too many surprises.

This one ended up going in directions i certainly didn't plan. The 10 minute episode is on YT now.

I'd wanted to see this place since my mum showed me photos of her there in the 70's when I was a kid.

I really didn't know what to expect. The whole Turkey trip was a bit of a magic charm to be honest. Plus the olives and sting cheese on tap - a little in love with the place.

NEW FILM πŸŽ₯

I gave myself five days to travel from Izmir to Pamukkale and back.

I thought I had a pretty good idea of what I was going to find. I didn't.

I ended up exploring volcanic landscapes, ancient cities, thermal springs, Greek mythology, the world's first coins, and a few places I hadn't even heard of before arriving.

Somewhere along the way, the film I thought I was making changed completely.

This is five days travelling through western Turkey, following whatever caught my attention and trying to understand the landscape and the stories sitting within it.

The full film is now on YouTube - Sid Hewison - link in bio.

Good story this one. Gold, olives, ice-cream, empires... it's all the same. Rocks make nearly everything we need and love. Where's the love for rocks? Go and love a rock.

Social media platforms are funny things. You develope relationships with the communities - they all have their own flavour.
Over time, the platforms change. The algorithm changes. The owners change. What restricts your account and viewership changes.
Its almost like having a friend with dementia. You just don't know how you will be treated day to day or if they even remember you.
Facebook was always at the back of the queue in terms of "importance". I started you Youtube, that went nowhere, moved to Tiktok which was my focus for 1.5 years. Then i started posting to Instagram (which automatically uploads to Facebook).
I wasn't completely aware that I had a page until I saw that there were over 100,000 people on the page.
Largely, it still sits at the back of my mind.
But, at the moment, there is a lot more interaction and a sense of community here than on the other platforms.
So I just wanted to say thanks for being a part of the tour and for all your support and interest over the years.
Regardless of platforms and demographics, I'm always grateful for people who share fascination for the world we live in.
For those of you interested in a deeper immersion of "sids.ventures" I'm launching my (longform) YouTube content properly in a couple of weeks and I'm about to release my third podcast at "sids.campfire" (currently on Spotify).
There's also 15% off the outback tours in August (men's tour) and September (open tour) for the next 2 days. If you want the "proper" experience, that's the key.
Thanks again folks. Great to have you all on board. πŸ™πŸ»
