WE’RE SO EXCITED when artists like Suwedha join us on tour. Her energy, focus and passion are uplifting for all of us! ✨✨ we’re lucky!

Suwedha joins the cast of Temple of Desire as we prepare to perform on Geelong on 18 April.

Suwedha is an emerging dancer who believes in the importance of channeling inner emotions onto her movements on the dance floor, to craft the most meaningful performance as possible. Her arangetram in 2022 has shaped her into a more disciplined dancer in many instances, such as her constant desire to question and refine her creative approaches as well as master the concept of a well-rounded performance. Suwedha is most passionate when she sees improvement through her daily practices, because her hard work has taught her the importance of perseverance.

Something beautiful happens for all of us when Meghana is with us: because her dance and passion rise from the deepest place in her soul. ✨

Meghana joins the phenomenal cast of Temple of Desire in Geelong on 18 April, bringing oodles of passion, talent, and a kind heart.

Meghana is a Bharatanatyam dancer who lives and breathes her art. Dance is the space she seeks in every emotion, whether in confusion, celebration, pain, or peace. Each movement becomes a conversation with herself and with something greater than herself. Trained in the classical margam tradition and shaped by disciplined practice, she carries both strength and sensitivity in her performance. Her exposure to Yakshagana deepened her sense of character and expression. Meghana finds her greatest joy in complete surrender; because for her, dance is prayer, devotion, and the purest way to exist.

✨ Karma Dance is growing, and we’re thrilled to welcome these gems! 💎❤️

This month, Evie and Arjun joined our team through our new paid internships for talented youth. As a not-for-profit that just wants to make a difference, only the best talent on AND off stage can make it happen. Along with powerhouse Producer they now join our administrative A-team! 💪🏾

Welcome:

Evie:
Lead singer of Melbourne rock band Paper St, Evie brings energy, creativity, and leadership to every project. With experience in music, performance, and coaching, she connects with people confidently and authentically.

Arjun:
Year 12 VCE student, creative designer, and automotive enthusiast. From LEGO and art to original car concepts on YouTube, Arjun combines creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm to contribute to everything he takes on.

🔥One show sold-out - GET YOUR TICKETS TORONTO 🔥

Temple of Desire is a delicious dance-theatre performance at the nervous edge where spirituality and sensuality meet.

Fresh from a sell-out, award-winning season at Melbourne Fringe (Australia), this bold new work features 16 dancers trained in the classical Indian form of Bharatanātyam. Dangerously, they reclaim a pre-colonial world where the divine and the sensual unite with splendour and power. Subversive, sumptuous, and unapologetically q***r, Temple of Desire confronts colonial loss and gendered oppression through dance that is both defiant and evocative. Steeped in tradition, visually rich and emotionally charged, this is radical performance as resistance—alive with urgency, beauty, intimacy, and joy.

DATES:
4-11 July (5 shows)
at Native Earth Performing Arts, Aki Studio
as part of Toronto Fringe

Performed by:r09
