"At its heart, though, 'Day (After Day) In The Life Of The Useless' remains a story about being human. Pete is trying desperately to get back on the 'bus of life', even as it seems determined to leave him behind.

O’Mahony believes that struggle matters because humans operate on organic time. We need sleep, refuge, recovery and time to rebuild. AI, by contrast, promises frictionless productivity and instant answers.

'We’re still animals. We’re still organic beings that don’t work in that way,' he says.

For O’Mahony, the play ultimately celebrates that difference rather than treating it as a weakness. After all, sometimes falling apart is part of finding your way back."
