From the quiet energy of the Snake Run and local fishing spots to decades-long community fights, Albany Is stitches together the unsung stories that make this place what it is. Pharmacists, skaters, Elders, and students - all sharing their piece of the puzzle.

A couple of weeks ago we launched Albany Is at Albany Town Hall, alongside the people whose voices carry the app.

Aunty Glenda welcomed us to Country. Local historian, author and Albany Is contributor Malcolm Traill guided us through the evening. Creative Director and narrator Josh Hogan sat down with contributors Vernice Gillies, Anthony Csermelyi and Sue Lefroy, along with Albany Senior High School teacher Julia Seitz and students Kayla and Talen, who recorded their first interviews for this project.

Albany Is is a free app that lets you walk through Albany in the company of the people who know it best. More than 400 hours of interviews shaped into 11 journeys, from 'Harvest' and 'Edge' to 'Hidden Hands' and 'Young'. Every journey branches as you go, so the path you choose shapes what you hear next.

More than 170 people sat down and talked about this place. Not one history of Albany, but many, layered over each other. That is what community sounds like.

To every person who agreed to be recorded, and to your families: thank you for your memories, your stories and your trust. We hope it feels like yours, because it is.

Reporting to our CEO, you'll lead a tight-knit team delivering public art outcomes across Land.Mark.Art, Creative Spaces and Places, Creative Strategy, and Public Art and Activation, work in the same league as Optus Stadium's cultural precinct, Balgang Albany's Lighting the Sound, and Thomas Dambo's Giants of Mandurah.

We're looking for strong leadership and business acumen, a background in arts, arts management, or urban planning, and a genuine understanding of public art practice and cultural protocols.
