Key Plot and Synopsis
The entire story takes place inside a Court of Justice.

The Conflict: A woman named Angelina (the Plaintiff) is suing her ex-fiancé, Edwin (the Defendant), for "breach of promise" because he fell in love with someone else and left her at the altar.

The Courtroom Chaos: The Usher tells the jury to remain totally unbiased, but then immediately adds that they should feel bad for the beautiful Angelina and ignore everything the "vile" Edwin says.

The Absurd Defence: Edwin tries to excuse his behavior by saying he naturally changed his mind, comparing his love to eating breakfast and moving on to dinner. He even proposes a wacky solution: he will marry Angelina today and his new love tomorrow. The lawyers point out that this is illegal bigamy.

The Twist Ending: Fed up with arguing all day, the Judge decides to resolve the entire lawsuit by throwing out the legal papers and announcing that he will marry Angelina himself. Everyone happily agrees that he is a "good judge of beauty".

TRIAL BY JURY plus Gilbert & Sullivan Favourites The Savoy Singers with special guest performers will present a fully staged version of this...
