🌟5 Day Play Challenge🌟
Day Four: Muddy Ooblek
Getting messier with every passing day 🙈
And if there’s one thing I can say about this activity it is BE PREPARED! If you have grass out the front or back of your house set it up there. The initial mess is frightful but it all washes away so quickly with just water. The bottom of the shower would be a great alternative place to set this experience up to make clean up even quicker!

HOW TO MAKE:
Mix 1cup of cornflour, 3tbs of cocoa and 1/2cup of water in a bowl. You may need to add more water or cornflour to adjust the consistency.
Add in plastic trucks, animals, blocks, anything your child fancies!

⚠️ As always children should be VERY CLOSELY SUPERVISED during all sensory play activities. ⚠️

🌟5 Day Play Challenge🌟
Day Three: Jelly hunt!
If you’re not a fan of sticky, gag-worthy, messy play then keep on scrolling. This one is not for you! 🙈
I’ll be honest and say that this play experience was a fail. I used one pack of jelly before realising I needed more but resorted to plain unflavoured gelatin that I added to it. The plain stuff didn’t really set so we ended up with a gloopy congealed mess in a tray filled with random bits and pieces that Bub was meant to search for. Did not stop him from diving in and tasting every single hidden treasure. I’ll be repeating this activity later in the week with 3 packets of jelly because I think that he will love it even move with the challenge of actually having to dig for his toys.

HOW TO MAKE:
Make up a couple of packets of whatever flavoured jelly as per the instructions on the packet. Before placing the jelly in the fridge to set add some “treasures”. I found that the spoon, bead necklace and some of yesterday’s rainbow spaghetti was most popular. Allow to set over night in the fridge.

Be mindful that this activity will leave your child SUPER sticky so have a warm bath ready and lay down a messy mat or similar to protect the floors.

⚠️ As always children should be VERY CLOSELY SUPERVISED during all sensory play activities. ⚠️

🌟5 Day Play Challenge🌟
Day Two: RAINBOW SPAGHETTI!
Who doesn’t love rainbow colours and carbs? Although the idea is for your child to play with the spaghetti, manipulating it between their tiny fingers, scooping and slopping it back down in the tray, I can GUARANTEE that at one point that slippery, slimey pasta will make its way in to bub’s mouth and they will then sit there and snack on it for the remainder of the play session.

HOW TO MAKE:
Simply grab a packet of your favourite pasta (I just use the Coles 60c pack) and cook as normal. Then split the cooked pasta in to plastic bags and add a few drops of whatever colour you want to use along with a couple of drops of oil (to prevent sticking). Shake the bag until colours are evenly dispersed.

⚠️ As always children should be VERY CLOSELY SUPERVISED during all sensory play activities. ⚠️

🌟5 Day Play Challenge🌟
Day One: Safe Water Bead Play!
Water beads are fun for all ages and I have been wanting to give my Bub an opportunity to explore these colourful, squishy gems for ages but wanted to do it in a way where he is safe from ingesting them.
We started with the water beads in a ziplock bag (air squeezed out) and taped to a window. They looked gorgeous with the natural light shining thru. I then moved them to the tiles and taped them back down. Bub enjoyed crawling over the bag and sitting on top of it.
Finally when he lost interest of it I poured them in to a large “clear” balloon and squeezed the air out to create a stress ball type thing.
OTHER FAVOURITE WAYS TO USE WATER BEADS:
✨replace marbles with water beads when building a marble run!
✨fill a tray with water beads and add scoops, spoons, cups, tweezers etc
✨ freeze in IceCube trays
✨add to play dough

WHERE TO BUY?
You will find water beads in most $2 shops, usually in the artificial flower/vase section as they are traditionally used in vases. they cost about $3 a pack. I used half a pack.

⚠️ please note that water beads are not safe to ingest! They are not recommended to be used as a toy so any use should be VERY CLOSELY SUPERVISED. ⚠️

Join us for a week of sensory play inspiration!

Each day I will be posting a new play idea that you can do at home with your Bub (6mo+) with very little money or effort required. The reason I’m titling this as a “challenge” is because I would love to see others enjoying a “sensory play a day” over the 5 day week and sharing photos on the daily posts!
Sneak peak of the first activity coming soon...

Tonight’s “busy activity” while I prepped dinner: a Pom Pom filled whisk. Also note the sticky tape on the high chair as a backup activity. Perfect fine motor activity for little fingers 🖐🏼

Sensory Play Challenge coming soon! Stay tuned for more details over the next couple of days 🌈👶🏻👧🏼👦🏽🧒🏻

💧🛁GELLI BAFF🛁💧
Disclaimer: I can’t take credit for this activity or the photos as this one came from Archer’s daycare HOWEVER I had actually purchased a box of Gelli Baff the week before with the intentions of using some with Archer and some at school in my Kindy class.
If you haven’t tried Gelli Baff before, please don’t let the ridiculous name put you off! You can find it in Target stores in their beauty department in a range of different colours. I opted for the blue as I thought it would be perfect for an underwater small world play.
Would I fill an entire bath tub with the stuff? No thanks. But a container big enough to hide different items thru the mixture would be perfect for little hands and fingers to explore and investigate. I love the idea of adding bead strings.
The packet includes a sachet of powder that you can add afterwards to dissolve the product and make it easier to clean.
I will attach a picture of the product box in the comment section so you know what you’re looking for.
Happy Gelli Baff-ing! 🤣

🚜🐄THROW IT IN THE TRAY🐄🚜
Hi folks! Long time no post, this mumma has gone back to work (part time) and hasn’t had the opportunity to jump on and share what we’ve been up to.
This one was a spur of the moment, keep bubba busy while I clean the kitchen activity.
I used barley as the sensory element but you could literally use anything you have on hand... split peas, chickpeas, rice, flour, cereal etc.
Archer has been loving his toy animals and trucks lately and we are encouraging him to mimick the sounds the animals make. He LOVED picking up the teeny tiny pieces of barley and sprinkling it on to the tiles outside the mat. Certainly an activity to do BEFORE you vacuum the house.
Give it a go!

⚠️as always, please supervise your children closely when creating messy play. Ensure that small items are food same and expect that they will give it a taste. Archer was eating the raw barley by the handful 🤦🏻‍♀️
