Members, don't miss our next meeting on 6th June. Our demonstrator will be Lucy Bertilone talking about Mixed Media Techniques. Lucy is an expert in using many different techniques to create her porcelain art and these two Iceland Poppy vases include lustre, china paint, white raised paste and metallics. The white paste has been used as an overlay on the petals and dotted onto the leaves to give texture. The buds in the background are metallic colours. Both vases are 17cm and the poppy design encircles the entire piece so they can be viewed at different angles.

At our next meeting in June our focus will be on Mixed Media Techniques. This new and innovative style of porcelain art emerged in the 1980s when new products became available. It involves using multiple techniques and materials that require different firing temperatures to produce the finished result. This large 30cm Dragonfly Vase by Heather Tailor features relief work, gold, lustres and collage, painted in 2008.

Happy Easter to all our members and friends. Hope to see you at our April 11th Meeting with a special demonstration by Audrey Rayner on 'Metallics'. Meanwhile, here are 3 beautiful pieces hand painted by member Lucy Bertilone in 2012 that feature Copper Metallic and Violets. Note how Lucy used positive and negative space to create interesting shapes to frame the flowers and the dynamic contrast between the warm copper colour and the cool violet shades. Vase is 13cm and the smaller vase and box are 10cm.

Here are 3 pieces by Heather Tailor featuring 'metallic over lustre'.
