ACROSS WORLDS, A BODY SEARCHES FOR FREEDOM THROUGH MEMORY, ART, POETRY AND MUSIC.

We’re thrilled to announce that Freedom has been selected for La Mama Explorations 2026.

Freedom, created and developed by award-winning multidisciplinary artist and creative producer Mohammed ‘Ayo Busari’, is an interdisciplinary performance exploring what it means to seek, lose, and reclaim freedom across diasporic Black and African identities. Blending theatre, live music, spoken word, storytelling, and design, this visceral and poetic work journeys between Nigeria and Australia, tracing how freedom is shaped by colonisation, migration, memory, and belonging.

At its heart, Freedom asks: What does freedom truly feel like? And for whom is it withheld, delayed, or denied? Grounded in reflection, resistance, and release, Freedom invites audiences into an intimate exploration of identity, community, and the ongoing search for belonging.

SUPER excited to finally announce some very special guests joining me on stage for the Joy & Balloons EP Launch Concert! ✨

I’ll be sharing the stage with three incredible artists, .dalao, collaborators and friends I’ve had the honour of working with many times. Every collaboration with them brings something special, and I’m so grateful they’ll be part of this moment. 🤍

They’ll be performing a few songs with me and the band, plus sharing some of their own original music, so expect a beautiful afternoon full of connection, energy, and celebration. 🎉

Okay, it’s finally here! 🥳

My biggest headline gig is happening on Sunday 1st of March, celebrating the release of my upcoming debut EP Joy & Balloons, presented as part of Sunday Music. 💫

This will be the world-premiere live performance of the EP, and I’ll be joined by my incredible band, friends, and long-time collaborators who help shape the rhythm, energy, and multidisciplinary spirit behind my work.

Share the joy of song with acclaimed musician and vocal coach, , in this fun, joyful and FREE vocal workshop!

If you love to sing and love to connect with the community, this workshop is for you. Over two hours, Drea will teach participants the basics of harmonisation in a low-pressure setting, allowing you to make your mark on Christmas favourites, an Aussie classic and a touch of musical theatre. This workshop is open to all skill levels - absolute beginners to trained vocalists, so don’t be shy!

The Joy of Song will be taking place at Victoria Hall, High St, Fremantle, from 1 pm-3 pm on Sunday, the 28th December. Attendance is free, but we only have 30 spots available, so get in quick before they are all gone.
