WE WANT YOU TO MEET SHIRLEY 😍💙
Shirley came to us as a student. Now she is a resin artist selling her work around Perth and beyond 🥰🎨
And the journey in between? One of the most inspiring stories we have ever had the privilege of being part of 💙
Shirley brought a lifetime of creativity with her when she walked through our doors, a Bachelor of Business, a fashion degree, years in global corporate roles and a career in fashion design across Sydney and Boston 😍💙
But it was resin that captured her heart 🥰🎨
She hand pours pigmented resin over carefully prepared wood, layering colour and texture to create pieces with that stunning high gloss almost 3D quality that seems to shift with the light 😍💙
We asked Shirley a few questions about her journey and her answers stopped us in our tracks 💙
On her biggest hurdle she said this:
"Cancer. I was often not feeling well. But at the same time I was able to disconnect from health challenges and have fun in an artistic environment with kind people. The most memorable moment was arriving at Collective Obsessions following an oncologist appointment. Rochelle took one look at me, put my purse and coat on a hook, poured me a glass of ch*****ne, handed me a pastry and told me to immerse myself in a project. It was the best medicine." 💛

Shirley was such a pleasure to teach, always eager to learn, always turning up after class with cookies and brownies and a list of questions 😂🥰💙
Her vision? To have her art purchased and hung on walls around Perth and beyond 😍💙
