The August Share the Dignity Drive has now come to a close and I am so proud to report that NLNL Perth~Boorloo has collected:
🩸 123 pantyliners!
🩸 285 pads!
🩸 200 tampons!

What an amazing effort!! This huge collection will be delivered to Share the Dignity who will then distribute to people experiencing period poverty.

Share the Dignity works to make a real, on the ground difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, or doing it tough. They distribute period products to those in need and work to end period poverty here in Australia. When someone is doing it tough, the last thing on their mind should be dealing with their period.

Dance fam, your generosity is unwavering and I cannot thank you enough for getting on board with this important cause! Pats on the back and high fives all round!

Now listen! ✋ Before we go throwing around ‘are you trying to kill me’ accusations again I think it’s important to say for anyone who hasn’t yet been to NLNL, you are entirely welcome to move at your own pace and there is zero pressure to huff and/or puff. No-one can see you, and no-one cares 🥰

👉 AND you should be aware that there’s a chance you’ll end up moving more than you thought you would. Not because you had to. More because you couldn’t seem NOT to.

I don’t make the rules 🤷‍♀️ I just choose the tunes! (I mean I guess I do make the rules, but not about how you have to move! 😂😂)

While every donation so far has made a real impact, Share The Dignity has said they're still significantly short of what their charity partners have requested.

That gap matters. Because it represents people making impossible choices. And menstrual equity is everyone's business!

“It was a choice between making the kids dinner or period products. The kids come first every time. I improvised at home with cut up old towels.”

No one should have to live like this.

After a Monday night dance I often post on my personal page about the dance I've just had (I've always got so much to gush about!) and I thought I'd share what I wrote last Monday because honestly, that vibe kept me flying high right through the week!

"Tonight between getting stupidly stanky to JASON DERUUULLOOOO 🍑 turning into an 80s aerobics instructor during Dua Lipa 👟 and essentially imitating a hardcore marathon runner (one of the super hot ones) during Pendulum’s remix of Prodigy 🏃‍♀️ I thought my heart my burst open like Spike’s in the Buffy finale ❤️‍🔥 Flume brought out my best robot ballerina moves (yep that’s a thing) 🤖🧑‍🩰 and then finishing on singing Alanis Morrissette REALLY LOUD in a pitch black hall with 60 of the best people on earth … this wholesome goodness is where it’s at!"

Woohoo!! I feel like I moved every last centimetre of my body tonight, in lots of weird and wonderful ways!

A couple of notes:
🐓 Chicken Payback will always be one of my fave NLNL jams. I love all the animal calls bringing extra whimsy in the song (although I suspect one of the wolf calls might have come from Dance Captain Sam tonight) 🐺😉😂
🤟 Early in my Auslan interpreter days, me and another terp would drive between jobs signing the lyrics to Boyz, and it all came out again tonight (well, the signs for ‘how many’ and ‘boys’ at least)!
🌖 I had no idea that I knew basically ALL the lyrics to Can’t Fight The Moonlight 😅
💥 Whoever let those lads from Pendulim get their hands on Prodigy need to take a long hard look at themselves! I suspect that may be the reason a number of you accused me of trying to kill them tonight 🤣
