I’ve done a soft feminine page for you today using this really pretty floral range. The title was firstly inked and then a light layer of coloured pencil put over the top. The vines were all coloured using one of my favourite mediums, Prismacolour pencils

This layout features my little grandson enjoying one of his favourite activities, playing in the sand and perfectly captures this sweet moment of childhood fun. He gets completely absorbed in his own little world, happily filling sand molds and exploring different shapes and textures. Watching him play so contentedly inspired the title, A Little Dirt Never Hurt.
The background papers in this layout are quite busy, so I chose to heat emboss all the chipboard pieces with white embossing powder. This helped them stand out against the patterned papers while adding a clean, crisp finish. For contrast, I incorporated black engraved phrase pieces and a word tag, which draw the eye and add visual balance to the design.

🌊🌊Ocean Waves in 3D Mixed Media Art🌊🌊

For this project, I created a textured ocean wave artwork with a strong 3D effect using an MDF base and chipboards. The main idea was to make the waves flow out of the frame, creating movement and depth.

The chipboards helped build dimension, while texture paste and acrylic paints added the dynamic feeling of crashing ocean waves.

This piece combines mixed media techniques, coastal inspiration, and layered textures to transform a simple frame into a dynamic ocean scene.

Materials Used
For the foundation, I worked with an MDF base, which provided the stability needed for heavy texture and layered elements.

To build dimension and structure, I used a stencil and added chipboards throughout the composition. These layers helped shape the movement of the waves.

Sometimes the most interesting artworks happen
when we stop treating the frame as a limitation — and let the art break free.

We are absolutely thrilled to unveil a stunning collection of MDF bases, expertly decorated by the one and only Mixed Media Queen herself, Kerstin! 👑🎨 Every single piece is a masterclass in texture, depth, and pure artistic magic see below how she has created the MDF Lantern ...

This mixed media lantern project combines industrial steampunk elements with a warm rustic finish. The base was created using an MDF lantern shape, decorated with layered chipboards, textured details, and dimensional embellishments to achieve a vintage handmade look.

The surface was covered with structure paste to add depth and an aged effect. Afterwards, the entire piece was painted with Terra acrylic paint, giving it a natural earthy tone. To highlight the beautiful textures and chipboard details, metallic wax was gently applied on top, creating subtle vintage shimmer and enhancing the gears.

The combination of rough textures, rusty metallic accents, and delicate decorative pieces makes this project a perfect home décor item for lovers of mixed media, steampunk, and rustic art styles.

.scrapper stuns us with her exceptional layout today of her little grand daughter, see below how Adri has created her wonderful page ...

This layout is filled with soft colour, delicate florals and beautiful detail, perfectly capturing my granddaughter’s joyful personality. The title could not be more fitting for her sweet smile and playful spirit.
All the chipboard pieces were first primed with white acrylic paint and then painted using Americana Acrylic Paints. I randomly tucked foliage among the flowers to create fullness and in the clusters, cutting some pieces apart for extra detail. The little bird nest was chalked with Chocolate Versa Magic Ink.
For the ombré effect on the title, I used two shades of purple to create gentle shading and dimension. The mini titles were coloured with several layers of white Posca Pen for a crisp, bright finish. I always adhere small pieces of acetate behind the mini titles, making them much easier to attach securely onto the flower clusters. Tiny butterflies were then added to the title, words and bird nest for a whimsical finishing touch.
To complete the layout, I added pearl beads and white gesso splatters for extra texture and softness.

🌟FLASHBACK to 2016 - with Rachelle, this spectacular page is as beautiful today as it was ten years ago (yes 10 years!) 🌟

Rachelles projects were always full of distressed paper layers on her projects.

"This shows some of the layers, I also did some hand stitching. I painted the leaves of the foliage with DA mountain meadow, let dry (DA paints dry fast) then I applied a thick coat of clear crackle. Once the crackle dried I dry brushed on some DA Alabaster paint, to soften the color, & give the leaves 2 tones... One the seeds of the wild flower I altered using the lavender blush & sugar plum, then applied the DA clear gloss..."

This steampunk-inspired art journal page was created using stencils to add texture and structure to the background. Chipboards and die-cuts bring dimension, while washi tape and paper scraps create layered details.
