After 17 years of teaching Arty Pants together, Della and I are hanging up our Arty Pants aprons!

We started with a small group of children at the old Deanmore Primary school, and our classes grew pretty quickly…after a few years we had classes at different schools around Perth, with about 85 children altogether, every week !

It’s been a truly unique adventure, we have done so many amazing creative things with the kids, and learnt so much along the way.

Here are a few pictures from the final weeks with our last class….we were blessed with a beautiful group of children in our remaining class which made it harder to say goodbye!

Thank you to all the parents who supported us over the years, it’s been such a pleasure to nurture and celebrate your children’s creativity!

What’s in a name? The children were very creative with theirs! We used water colour paints and black pens….’ twas fun!

We had fun creating clay crocodiles one week, and their habitats the following week! Some of the crocs look a bit slim, like they’re in need of a good meal, but I love the way they’re all different too!

We started with known dinosaurs and the children changed them into ‘as yet undiscovered’ ones! Lots of fun, including naming them at the end…here are a few from Davallia Primary school…

I really love these acrylic paintings the children did last week, we called them ‘Outback reflections’
They are so rich and vibrant - the children quickly grasped the idea of painting the reflection upside down and did so well with that!
These paintings were done by our Arty Pants class at Davallia Primary school, some of the children are as young as 6!

We started this term with Mandalas and discussing the shapes and patterns we love and use often in our art work. Every mandala is different and it tells abit about each child individually. It’s also very calming and enjoyable which we also discussed as good for our mental health. These beautiful mandalas were drawn by children at Davallia PS. Enjoy!!

We painted some watercolour trees using different techniques - splattering, printing, spraying and painting; we used fan brushes, pop sticks, toothpicks and other brushes! Lots of mess, excitement and some excellent results; some of these paintings are done by 6 year olds, very well done!

We painted some happy houses on distant hills - we learnt a bit about perspective, shadows, foregrounds and backgrounds…
