With Term 3 underway it's time to get your class creating! 🎤

The 2026 WA Day Junior Reporter Competition gives WA primary school students the chance to share what they love about Western Australia – and one student will have the opportunity to work alongside a 7NEWS journalist at the WA Day Festival.

Getting involved is simple: choose your Junior Reporter, record a short video answering “What do you love about Western Australia – and why?”, and submit their entry online.

Need a hand getting started? Our free Schools Toolkit includes lesson plans, classroom activities and resources to make it easy to run as a classroom project.

Entries close 5.00pm AWST, Wednesday 30 September 2026.

We had to hop on this trend… because the life of a West Australian is kind of chic 💅💛

From calling 20°C “a bit chilly” to casually driving four hours because it’s “not that far” - there are some things that are just quintessentially WA.

What would you add to the list? 👇

📸 Some photos just instantly say Western Australia.

You know the ones - one look and you know exactly where you are. 💛

For World Photography Day, we’re celebrating some of WA’s most iconic photos - capturing the places, landscapes and wildlife that are recognised around the world as unmistakably Western Australian.

But with a state this spectacular, there are plenty more… what have we missed? What photo instantly says ‘Western Australia’ to you? 👇

🎉 FUN FACT FRIDAY – DID YOU KNOW? 🎉

🌊 Western Australia has more than 12,000km of coastline! 🌊

That's enough coastline to stretch further than the distance from Perth to London! 🤯

From the turquoise waters of the Kimberley and Ningaloo Reef to the white sandy beaches of Esperance and the rugged cliffs of the Great Southern, WA's coastline is one of the most spectacular in the world. 💙

How lucky are we to call this incredible State home? 💛
