I was finally able to find a good bánh tráng cuốn vendor (orange rice paper rolls with Vietnamese coriander, green mango, mayonnaise, and tamarind sauce) without having to travel too far from the city centre 🥹

Bánh tráng cuốn is one of my fav Viet snacks. I used to buy it from a street cart in front of my uni, but it is no longer there. The new stall is located on Ton That Hiep St, towards Saigon Centre, and the lady who sells this dish is Diem. She and her son were so lovely. I also got some dim sum on the way home 🥰

Catching up with besties over Japanese shaved ice 🍧 matcha lava cake 🧁 and orange matcha 🥤 at Fuji-Saryo cuz it’s too hot here in Sai Gon 🫠

We all ordered the small size, but as you can see the portion is still large, so it was affordable. Highly recommend the Caramel which has the mascarpone on top 😋 The other two flavours that we got were Choco-Mint and Kuromitsu Kinako (sugarcane molasses, roasted soybean powder, and almond). The lava cake is also nice 👍

Got these tasty Viet snacks as gifts 🎁
• Chocolate dipped orange, mango and kumquat
• Dried jackfruit and dates
• Beef jerky
• Dried pomelo rind coated with salted apricot flakes
• Grilled honey ginger
• Candied fruits such as custard apple and tamarind

Okay I’m a sucker for cute desserts 😂 I mean LOOK AT THIS ADORABLE CHEESE-SHAPED DESSERT 🧀 called Jerry’s Cheese at Cube Cake !!! In the display there’s even a Jerry figurine defending his cheese cubes 🤣

The cheesecake pairs quite well with the citrus matcha 🍵 All of their desserts are not too sweet and the portions are on the smaller size, so it is perfect for those who don’t have a sweet tooth but still like to enjoy a light dessert with their friends 🍰

🦀 Crab soup 🥣 (xúp măng cua), stir-fried glass noodles 🍜 (miến xào cua), and rice and tapioca noodle soup 🍲 bánh canh cua) at Tân Định market.

Miến xào cua is probably my fav out of the three dishes. Also ordered a sapodilla smoothie 🥤 to keep me cool 😎

Taking my cousins from Sydney 🇦🇺 to have some waffles 🧇 at Ry’s as they requested!

They shared the apple 🍎 and vanilla ice cream 🍨 one, while I had the classic maple syrup version 🍁

The portions are quite big compared to those in Australia. So if you are not a big eater, it’s better to have someone to share the waffle with 😅

Also I do recommend outdoor seating because inside is quite hot 🥵

Planned to go to Ốc J24 with Aussie cuzzies but they close during new moon and full moon, so we had to travel a bit further down to Ốc Oanh 😅

The choices are still overwhelming as always 😵‍💫 They have a couple of new dishes, but I just picked some safe choices as it was my cousins’ first time trying these dishes: sò lông nướng mỡ hành (charcoal grilled sò lông with scallion oil and peanut), ốc hương xào bơ cay (ốc hương stir-fried in butter and chilli flake sauce), mì xào ốc móng tay và rau muống (stir-fried noodles with morning glory and razor clams), garlic butter scallops, and grilled octopus 🐙🔥

The food was delicious and affordable! The three of us were so full after the meal ☺️

My second time at Hà Tôn Quyền street for some sủi cảo 🥟 with my uncle and cousins from Oz 🇦🇺

The whole street is packed with sủi cảo places, but the one that we went to is called Ngọc Ý, as recommended by my uncle’s friend 😁

Besides sủi cảo, there are other dishes as well. I also ordered quy linh cao for dessert! It was lovely ☺️

There’s always room for desserts! 😋

Had some chè mâm at Chè Mâm Khánh Vy in front of Ngô Gia Tự Apartment. ‘Chè’ refers to Vietnamese dessert soups, and ‘mâm’ means ‘tray’.

A standard set includes 🥥 rau câu dừa, 🍮 bánh flan (flan cake), 🌾 sticky rice with green mung bean, and 🥣 different types of hot chè:
* bà ba (sweet potato, cassava, tapioca strings)
* bắp (corn)
* chuối (banana)
* đậu đỏ (red mung beans)
* đậu đen (black mung beans)
* đậu trắng (white beans)
* đậu xanh (green mung beans)
* khoai môn (taro)
* mè đen (black sesame)
* táo xọn (split green mung beans)
* thưng (peanuts, tapioca pearls, seaweed, split mung bean, sweet potato)
* trôi nước (sticky rice ball with green mung bean filling, sesame and ginger syrup)
* ỷ (sticky rice ball in ginger syrup)

You can order individual dishes if the tray is too much for you. Complimentary iced tea is provided to wash down the sweetness. Highly recommend chè bà ba, bắp, mè đen, thưng, trôi nước and ỷ and the coconut jelly 👍

Beer time with relatives 🍻 Nothing more refreshing than having cold craft beer in this kind of heat. The salted lime 🍋‍🟩 and the pomelo are my favourites ❤️
