I attended History in the City yesterday at the invitation of our brilliant archivist Susan Hall. The talk was delivered by Richard Offen on his book Perth Then and Now and it was a beautiful walk down memory lane with new information for everyone. Heritage House has 5 signed copies of Richard’s book for sale. Pop on in as we don’t think they will last long.

I am also looking forward to being invited to speak at next months History in the City.

We also have beautiful new items in our store just in time for Christmas 🎄 or as a personal gift to yourself 🥰

The Phillip Pendal Finalists will be honoured this evening at Heritage House including the overall award Winner.

We cannot wait to celebrate our finalists, their families and our sponsors.

The first look for the public will be Friday 28 August 10-4 and Saturday and Sunday 1-4pm

The Wattle is bursting out in Windsor Park, Djilba a special time

The Noongar season of Djilba has begun 📅

Djilba is a transitional time of the year, usually spanning across August and September, with days ranging from cold and clear to warm and rainy, interspersed with the occasional sunny day or two ❄🌨⛅🌤🌞

It is a time when the wattles come into full bloom and signal the start of the mass blooming of the south-west 🌻

Traditionally, the main food sources include many of the land based grazing animals such as Yonga (kangaroo), Waitj (emu) and Koomal (possum) 🦘

The woodland birds will still be nest bound, hence the swooping protective behaviour of the Koolbardi (Magpie), Djidi Djidi (W***y Wag Tails) and Chuck-a-luck (Wattle Birds).
