Moort Waabiny - Aboriginal Playgroup Our school established the Moort Waabiny to establish a strong connection between school, The Moort Waabiny is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday each week.

Aboriginal Families as First Educators Program supports families with Aboriginal children from birth to 4 years old in their roles as their child’s first te

acher. Our school established the Moort Waabiny to establish a strong connection between school, local community and families from the child's early years. The Moort Waabiny is a family based learning environment where parents or care givers come together with their child to experience the joy of learning and playing in a culturally supportive environment. Moort Waabiny experience will result in a strong family school link where families know the school wishes to support the child and family. The stronger links will improve enjoyment of the school experience, improved school attendance, school readiness and engagement. Currently our centre is staffed by:

* An Aboriginal Family Liaison Officer, who supports families through home visits and at the centre

* An Aboriginal Facilitator who leads the in centre activites for the parent and care giver with the child. Our faciliator is skilled in the Abecedarian Approach Australia (3A) which includes three elements. Conversational Reading, Learning Games and Enriched Caregiving. The 3A provides children with a solid foundation for their future learning. The children will continue their learning journey when 4 years old by joining our Kindergarten program. 🎶🌿 Sing & Grow is coming to Moort Waabiny - Aboriginal Playgroup! 🌿🎶

We’re excited to welcome Holly from the Sing & Grow program to our playgroup for the next 4 Tuesdays! 💕🎵

📅 When: Every Tuesday for the next 4 weeks
📅 Tuesday 18th, Tuesday 25th August & Tuesday 1st, Tuesday 8th September
⏰ Time: 11:00am – 11:30am
📍 Moort Waabiny Playgroup - 64 Morrison Street, Redcliffe

Holly will join us for fun and interactive music sessions where you and your child can sing, dance, play musical instruments and have fun together! 🥁🎸💃🏽🕺🏽

✨ A little about Sing&Grow:
Sing&Grow is a national evidence-based music therapy program for young children and their families. The group sessions focus on strengthening family relationships and supporting children’s development through music and play. 🎶❤️

TERM 3

Hi Moort Waabiny families 🖤💛❤️

Just a quick update, we know we previously shared that we'd be reopening on today (Tuesday), but we've made the decision to delay our start by a couple of days. Term 3 will now begin on Thursday 23rd.

We're using the extra time to put the finishing touches on our space and prepare lots of exciting new experiences for our little ones, so everything is ready to welcome you back.

Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support. We can't wait to see all our families again on Thursday! ✨

A huge thank you to all the mob who came down to Jacaranda NAIDOC Family Day today and visited the Moort Waabiny Playgroup stall. It was wonderful to see so many children and families enjoying our play space, exploring the activities on offer, and learning more about what our playgroup is all about. We truly appreciate everyone who stopped by to support us.

🎉 A big congratulations to Jaydene, the lucky winner of our raffle! Jaydene took home our Ultimate School Holiday Survival Pack, including a family pass, thanks to our wonderful friends at Scitech. Thank you for helping make this prize so special! ✨

Wrapping Up Term 2 with a Splash at AQWA!

We've had a deadly term filled with fun, learning, laughter, and connection. It has been wonderful to see our n***y ones and families come together each week to play, explore, and make lasting memories. Along the way, we celebrated many special milestones, from birthdays to first steps, making this term even more memorable.

We finished the term with an exciting excursion to AQWA, where families enjoyed a morning discovering amazing marine life, sharing new experiences, and creating special memories together. 🦈🐢🐟

A big thank you to all of our wonderful families for being part of another fantastic term. We hope you have a safe and relaxing holiday break, and we can't wait to see everyone back for Term 3!
