So tonight’s the night and I couldn’t be more excited to see you all again but first let’s talk a little bit about .
Over the course of two years we ran 13 parties, hosted over 60 different artists from as far abroad as Italy and America to Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and more. Not to mention the amazing local talent that were the backbone of any Yum Cha night, many of which have gone on to have very successful careers as DJs since.
From our launch night 22nd August 2014 you could tell this was something a bit different from what you could usually expect at Ambar.
With a focus on the emerging genres of trap, rnb, moombahton, twerk, jersey club and bmore things were a bit more bump and grind compared to your typical Ambar night.
Bootlegs of your favorite hip hop throwbacks with a twerk drop or the latest club banger mashed alongside your favorite trap track, that jersey bed spring sound, or “damn son” 😂. These were all staples of the Yum Cha sound.
The art and event write ups were some of my absolute favorites to create from my years promoting and I know Philly (for those that are unaware is also a very talented graphic designer) loved the creative freedoms our brand had to work within.
We had a whole lot of fun with these nights, from the initial concept ideas, to building the brand, theming each event, the marketing, booking the artists and supporting our local talent, to decorating and theming the venue and finally to playing for you and hosting the parties. I know for me that this brand holds a very special place in my heart and I for one am very excited to share that with you again.
See you down the stairs. Somewhere between the bar and the dancefloor.
