Rehearsals are held every Wednesday during the school term from 4:15pm to 5:45pm at All Saints Uniting Church, Floreat. Our orchestra is conducted by the high experienced Ms Sarah Clare.

Our End of Year Concert was a wonderful afternoon sharing music, food and connecting.
It’s such a joy conducting this amazing bunch of talented young musicians and being part of our supportive WAYS community.
A huge thank you to our wonderful chair, Karen, who has given much personal time and energy into things runnings smoothly and bringing some fresh ideas.
Thank you to all committee members for your generousity in giving your time also, to all the fabulous parents/guardians who support our students and of course, to the amazing WAYS members! 🙌🙌🙌

And that’s a wrap for 2025! 🤩

WAYS finished off the year with a BANG! We returned to our friends at a retirement village, performing orchestra works from accross the globe, plus some old time favourite solos. It was so very special to witness the intergenerational mingling, and wonderful to see our engaged audience loving the experience as much as we did!
(The cheers, applause, singing along and beaming smiles back at us gave it away! 😄🤩💕💕💕)

We hope you can join us for an afternoon of music, as we journey from UK pop, to a Spanish bullfight, to Tchaikovsky’s grand Finale and of course, a spoonful of Christmas cheer! 🎄🎅🎁

There will also be WAYS soloists/ duets and trios, afternoon tea and a raffle.

We were fortunate to rehearse in the big auditorium this week- excellent practice for our upcoming performance! 🤩 And we were spoilt with 2 double basses!! (I may be biased 😆).
After some hard work, students had a bit of fun swapping instruments… I think we’ll stick to our usual ones! 🤪

Students were eager to hold the fancy trophy we recently received for first place in the 82nd South Suburban Music Eisteddfod, large ensemble, 13 and under 🤩 🙌

I’m a little late with this post, but thank you all for making our Mid Year Concert such a special afternoon of sharing music, conversation, food, smiles & laughter 💚

Thank you St Peter and Emmaus Church for having us in your beautiful church, to our wonderful piano accompanist Kendra Hamersley, to our amazing WAYS family for the delicious food contributions and supporting our students, to our fab chair person Karen Tan and WAYS committee for all your hard work behind the scenes, and of course, to our superstar children of WAYS- YOU ROCK!!! 🤩🙌🙌🙌

I love the conversations I have with family members following our concerts, reaffirming how unique and special our orchestra and community is.
One parent expressed how glad they were to have found us; that they loved the nurturing, encouraging environment for their daughter. Another parent said their son did not practice his violin until joining our orchestra, now he is happy to practice and has improved so much.

It’s a privileged watching students blossom in orchestra; many of whom it’s their first orchestral experience.
There is something so magical about playing in a children’s orchestra, and I’m so blessed to be part of their musical journey 💚 🤩
