On Jan 31st, Perth Slam held the first heat of the Australian Poetry Slam 2026! Over 100 people filled the big top to witness FOURTEEN poets slam it out for a top spot! Some incredible poems delivered throughout. Scores were astronomical. I mean REALLY HIGH! Thanks to the Bunbury Fringe Festival for inviting us to slam in Bunno again! Winners Maria Grace and Damian are through to the WA Finals in August...

We held an awesome first WA Heat Australian Poetry Slam 2026 - at the Bunbury Fringe Festival!

Amazing crew of tech, staff and legendary volunteers!

Our second time at the Bunbury Fringe. An absolute world class festival on Perths doorstep. Under the big top.

Stunning afternoon in the guts of Bunbury. Fringe vibes with bongos and DJs. Food vans and frothies.

POETS!!! A stellar line-up of fourteen local slammers took to the thrust of the aluminium big top, with solid turn-out from the formidable Bunbury Poets Collective.

Poem after poem crushed the judges and audience alike, babies and nannas wooping in glee for poetry.

Over a hundred people cheered on as a cabalic cluster of five judges gave some of the most elevated scores in the history of slamkind.

Hi everyone, if you're in the South West, get on down to the 2026 Bunbury Fringe heat of the national Australian Poetry Slam.

Yes, we're back for a second year of APS at the awesome Bunbury Fringe.

All Ages.

All Peoples.

All Welcome!

Hosted by Perth Slam, this is your Bunbury chance to blow away the Big Top with your TWO MINUTE poem.

Or simply come along and witness the literary fitness of Bunbury's emerging slam poets, as they compete for fame and poetic glory. You'll be blown away!

You may even get to be a judge. We randomly draw five judges from the audience. They decide who goes to APS WA Final in August.

First and second place poets will be invited to compete on the Main Stage at the Rosemount Hotel, North Perth in August for the WA Final.

And the WA Winners will be flown to Sydney for the 2026 APS Final, held at the Sydney Opera House in October 2026.

Bunbury Fringe is paving the way for future regional poets to perform on a national stage, so come be entertained while supporting new, emerging talent.
