Yesterday, we gathered to honour and remember those who lost their lives, those who remain missing, and all those who continue to live with the consequences of the invasion and ongoing occupation of Cyprus.

The commemoration began with a Memorial Service at the Parish of Saints Constantine and Helene Church, Perth, Western, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the State War Memorial in Kings Park.

We sincerely thank our Reverend Fathers for leading the prayer services, and Consul of Greece in Perth Mrs Eleni Georgopoulou , Consulate of Greece in Perth, for her heartfelt addresses both at the church and at the State War Memorial.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to the RSL for facilitating and conducting the proceedings at the State War Memorial.

A special thank you also goes to Maria Rologas’s wonderful children, who stepped in at the last minute to assist by carrying the flags.

Most importantly, we thank everyone who made the effort to attend, lay wreaths and flowers, and stand with us in remembrance.

Your presence helped ensure that the sacrifices, suffering and stories of those affected are not forgotten.

Δεν Ξεχνώ — We will never forget.

A reminder that our Cyprus Memorial Service will be held tomorrow at at the Parish of Sts Constantine and Helene, followed by a wreath-laying service at 12.30pm at the War Memorial in Kings Park.

In July of 1974, the island of Cyprus was invaded by Turkey and subsequently saw one third of the population expelled from their homes.

It has been 52 years since the invasion, where Turkish troops entered Cyprus illegally.

On Sunday 2nd August 2026 there will be a church service at Parish of Sts Constantine and Helene followed by a wreath laying service at 12.30pm at the war memorial in Kings Park.

We would like to invite you all to attend our service to honour and remember all those who had lost their lives, those that are still missing, those who lost their livelihood, their happiness and their freedom.

Please feel free to lay a wreath or some flowers to remember this very important day for Cyprus. We hope you are able to attend.

52 Years Since the Turkish Invasion of Cyprus : We Remember. We Do Not Forget.

Today, Greek Cypriots across Australia and New Zealand stand together as one family to honour the memory of those who lost their lives, those who remain missing, and the nearly 200,000 people who were forced from their homes in 1974.

For 52 years, the occupation of our homeland has remained an open wound. Yet our commitment to justice, peace, freedom and the reunification of Cyprus remain as strong as ever.

This commemorative poster is dedicated to every Cypriot community across Australia and New Zealand. Though separated by distance, we are united by our history, our heritage, and our hope for a free and reunited Cyprus.

Together as One Cypriot Family.

Our Communities Across Australia and New Zealand.
WE REMEMBER. WE DO NOT FORGET. WE CONTINUE THE JOURNEY TOWARDS JUSTICE AND PEACE.
Ελεύθερη και Επανενωμένη Κύπρος : Free and Reunited Cyprus.
