Today I fly back to Perth, losing Dad has reminded me just how precious and short life really is.
I will be forever grateful that I made it home in time. I got to sit with Dad while he was still awake and coherent, talk and laugh with him, hold his hand and tell him just how much I loved him.
He knew I was there. He knew how much I loved him. And that means everything to me.
The love shown to our whānau has been overwhelming. Every message, visit, hug, meal, koha and act of kindness...thank you. We are so incredibly grateful.
Life is short. Tell your people you love them. Make the call. Take the photo. Give the hug. Say the words while you still can.
I’ll always wish I had more time with you, Dad, but I’ll never wonder if you knew how much I loved you.
Love you forever, Dad. ❤️
