The Learning Curve: LIVE MODELS 👩🏻‍🎨

Watching a treatment is helpful yes! but watching someone else do it is very different from confidently doing it yourself….

In this episode, I’m coaching my student through the treatment while giving her the opportunity to take the lead. I’m there to guide, support and step in when needed, but not to take over. 🖤

Hands-on training is where the real learning happens. 🎨

You develop your hand control, pressure, stretch, machine movement and decision-making by actually working on the a client not just observing from the sidelines.

Don’t get me wrong! Visual learning is a fantastic tool, especially for artists who already have a foundation in PMU but for beginners, personalised guidance and practical experience are essential i beleive. 🖤

Every student learns differently, and your training should include the support you need to build confidence safely and correctly.

That’s what makes AE Academy different: I don’t just demonstrate a treatment and send you on your way. I coach you through the process, answer your questions, correct your technique and give you the space to grow into the artist you’re becoming.

Confidence doesn’t come from watching. It comes from doing! with the right support beside you. 👩🏻‍🎨

The Learning Curve, Episode 4: Choosing the Right Brow Pigment! 🎨

Pigment selection is where colour theory meets skin theory! and this is one lesson every brow artist needs to understand before tattooing clients.

If your client has a cool skin tone, reaching straight for a cool-toned brow pigment may seem like the obvious choice. But once healed, those cooler tones can appear flat, grey or ashy against the cool toned skin.

That’s why cool-toned clients often need warmth introduced into the pigment choice. (Or pigment modification needs to take place) The right balance can help create a softer, more natural-looking healed result without unwanted ashiness. 🤎

As artists, we’re not choosing pigment based solely on what looks good in the bottle. We’re considering the client’s skin tone, undertone, natural brow hair, existing pigment and the healed result we want to create.

This is where colour theory becomes essential—and where confident consultation makes all the difference.

Your client is trusting you to choose wisely, so understand the undertones, trust your professional judgement and never be afraid to explain why a particular pigment is the better choice.

The learning curve is back!!

Episode 3: guiding your client to choose a colour that compliments their complexion. 💕🎨

Let’s face it choosing a lip blush colour isn’t just about picking the prettiest pigment in the tray. It’s about understanding the client’s natural lip tone, skin tone and undertone and knowing how those elements can influence the healed result. 💕

In this class, I’m discussing how to guide your client towards a colour that complements their features, rather than simply choosing a shade because it looks beautiful in the bottle or because it’s the clients go to lippy (with makeup on)

Your client may have an idea of the colour they want, but as the artist, your expertise matters.

A beautiful lip blush result starts with the right advice, not guesswork so understanding colour theory is a must before working on clients.

For aspiring artists, remember: your clients are trusting you to lead the colour consultation!

Educate them, explain your recommendations and stand confidently behind your professional opinion. 👩🏻‍🎨

The Learning Curve continues with one of the biggest foundations of great brows: The pre draw ✍🏼

This client had over-shaved / derma-planed through the brow shape, so the goal was not to simply add hair strokes wherever there was space. It was to thoughtfully reshape, rebalance and create a brow that suited her natural features.

In this episode, I’m taking you through the professional mapping process and physically drawing out the nano-stroke pattern before the tattooing begins. These tiny details matter: direction, flow, placement, density and knowing when to create softness rather than overfill.

This is how you get hyperrealism results!! 📈

A professional brow map helps create symmetry, structure and a shape that looks intentional - not stamped on, too heavy or borrowed from someone else’s face. 🖤

For my aspiring artists: this is exactly why mapping is not the “boring bit” before the fun starts. Mapping is the blueprint!! A beautiful result begins long before the machine touches the skin. ✔️

The Learning Curve let’s talk about it! 📈🪽

As a cosmetic tattoo trainer, I could show you the glossy healed results all day but I thought deeply about this, I’m showcasing the product of my work, not the journey of the girls growing inside AE Academy.

Tips online help yes but the real magic happens in the in-betweens which is why I feel driven to share intimate parts of my program: The shaky first strokes, the pigment questions, the brow-mapping lightbulb moments, and the “wait… I actually can do this” confidence shift. 🖤

For the learning curve series, I’m taking you behind the scenes of training at AE Academy - showing not just what my students create, but how I teach them to build real skill, confidence and an artist’s eye. ✨

I cannot stress enough - Great cosmetic tattooing isn’t about being perfect on day one. It’s about having the right guidance, practising with purpose, and being supported through every little learning curve you will face in this industry.

Episode 1: Welcome behind the scenes of mapping. Let’s get into it!

If you’re a beauty professional ready to turn your creativity into a career, send me “ACADEMY” and I’ll send you the details on AE Academy’s artistry offerings.
