I’m currently being mentored while I build my skills in brow services, cosmetic tattoo treatments, and scar revision.

Cold sores are the uninvited guest nobody asked for after lip blush (trust me I get it!) and if you’re prone to them, prevention really does matter.

Lip tattooing can trigger a cold sore flare-up in clients who carry the virus, which is why we always recommend peppering prior to your appointment with lysine (a multivitamin and antiviral medication from your local pharmacy)

A few quick reminders:

Don’t leave it until days after treatment to think about prevention!! It’s too late ladies!

Start any prescribed antivirals exactly as directed if you are prone to a breakout.

Keep your lips clean and hands off while healing
Avoid picking, licking, or overdoing the lip balm!

Follow your artist’s aftercare instructions properly
A little prep goes a long way - because the only thing you want waking up after lip blush is beautifully tinted lips, not a dramatic cold sore cameo. 🥺😭

Lip blush pigment selection is a little more strategic than “that one looks cute.” Or “This is what I wear when I go out”.

If your lips naturally have purple, blue, or cooler undertones, we often need to work with warmer tones to create a balanced healed result.

Otherwise, the final colour can heal too cool and make the lips look dull or washed out!

Warm tones = fresh, healthy, natural glow looking lips.

And no, that doesn’t mean your lips are going to heal orange girls! It means your artist understands colour theory.

We need to start looking at lip blushing like we look at hair toners. The tint needs to enhance our complexion not wash us out. 🙏🏼✨🎀
