HELMUT NEWTON

Nicknamed the “King of Kink,” Helmut Newton became famous for the erotic, noirish black-and-white fashion photographs he shot for magazines such as Vogue. His dreamlike frames embraced a sense of menace and luxury, and he captured nudes, celebrities, and ornate hotels and villas with equal verve. Newton’s work has been included in exhibitions at the Palais de Tokyo, Tate Modern, and Museum für Fotografie. His photographs have sold for over $1 million on the secondary market.

Helmut’s works are a staple of our up and coming Provocateur exhibition featuring a range of artists that have found success in pushing the boundaries of photography.

NORMAN PARKINSON

“The camera can be the most deadly weapon since the assassin’s bullet,” the photographer Norman Parkinson once said, “or it can be the lotion of the heart.” Parks, as he is often called, was a leading figure in shaping the image of 20th-century fashion. After apprenticing with royal court photographers Speaight and Sons Ltd., he spent the rest of his life working at leading fashion magazines, including Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, where he photographed subjects ranging from the candy-colored ensembles of Dior’s New Look to the bold style of the 1970s supermodel Jerry Hall.
