(476)

In 1927, William Somerville conceived the idea of a venue defined by a cathedral of Norfolk pine trees. Today the venue is best known for the Perth International Arts Festival's Lotterywest Film Season from November through to April each year. With accommodation for 1000 patrons on deckchair-style seats as well as 200 grass seats, there is no better venue to enjoy a film on a warm Perth evening. P

icnicking has become a traditional part of the pre-film entertainment and is a great way to soak up the ambience. The Somerville is licensed with a comprehensive bar, has delicious dinner options, snacks, ice-creams and coffee. The venue is also renowned for the annual In the Pines music festival organised by local community radio station RTR FM.

Important Update | Lotterywest Films temporary closure

Due to a potentially unstable branch on site, all remaining screenings this week of Lotterywest Films Black Dog (4 – 9 Feb 2025) at Somerville will not proceed as planned.

Perth Festival is working together with The University of Western Australia to get the much-loved summer film series operational again as soon as possible, with the safety of our patrons our top priority.

Lotterywest Films at Somerville back from 15th February!

FEB 5 UPDATE | There's been a slight change in plans! We'll be postponing the start of Perth Festival 2021 for another week on the advice of the WA Government and the Chief Health Officer. The good news is, we plan to extend our season to make up for lost time!

Perth Festival 2021 has been rescheduled to Mon 15 Feb – Sun 14 Mar.

Lotterywest Films at UWA Somerville will reopen on Mon 15 Feb. We ask customers to pre-book online if you’d like to grab a ticket as capacity continues to be limited.

The Tim Minchin performances at Kings Park will also be rescheduled, with news to follow on confirmed dates. Ticket holders will be contacted.

City of Lights, supported by Lotterywest in Perth Cultural Centre will open on Tue 16 Feb and operate until Sun 14 Mar.

All current Festival tickets remain valid and ticket holders will be contacted regarding rescheduled dates. There is no need to call or email the box office. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.

We look forward to being able to celebrate our community, our artists and our extraordinary Western Australian stories as soon as we can and as safely as we can.
