Kinley Tshering is a multi-talented artist renowned for his work as a singer, songwriter, composer, writer, and judge. He is currently an Associate Professor and the Program Leader for the Bachelor of Sports & Health Science Program at Royal Thimphu College (RTC).

Kinley’s musical journey began in 2003 with his debut song, Rigzang Lhadha Lhamo, featured in the album Nyengi Duetsi. In 2008, he ventured into playback singing with the track Dhoena May for the film 49th Day II, produced by NT Sound & Vision. Over the years, he has composed nearly 300 songs and performed over 100 tracks for Bhutanese films and music albums. A milestone in his career came in 2011 when he performed the Royal Wedding theme song, Gang Dha Khawa, written by Her Majesty The Queen Mother Ashi Tshering Pem Wangchuck as a tribute to the Royal Wedding.

Beyond music, Kinley has significantly contributed to promoting and preserving the Dzongkha language. He has served as a resource person for teaching Sheting for the Royal Education Council and Pchaytam (Bhutanese proverbs) for the Dzongkha Development Commission on YouTube. As a Dzongkha expert, he actively creates and shares educational content on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok to promote Bhutan’s national language among all generations.

Kinley has also been a prominent judge for popular Bhutanese singing competitions such as Druk Super Star and Druk Gi Kalapinka. Beyond his musical and linguistic contributions, he has played a vital role in Bhutan’s creative and academic sectors. He has been a board trustee for the Film Association of Bhutan (FAB) and a board director for the National Film Commission of Bhutan (NFCB), contributing significantly to the Bhutanese film industry.

Kinley Tshering’s remarkable achievements in music, education, and leadership make him an inspirational figure. His commitment to preserving culture and language helps keep it alive for future generations
