Landscapes
In the landscape of the heart lie the colours, valleys, peaks of life
The plains – golden grasses – lands where you found that little restaurant overlooking harbor lights
The crevasses carved by the glacier of trauma,
The weather events that broke through foundation of rock to create ever deep fissures filled with the soft sands of vulnerability
The deep waters of your eyes looking into mine as we fell…. Fell deep…. Fell into lakes … fell into ocean deep
These are the landscapes of the heart
Those moments of joy that created the stars in the sky. Warm winds in the simple playfulness of a child.
Westerlies, frigid cold with loss and bleak distance
This is another love song to you, to our life, to the land.
This is the landscape of my heart
Lost sight of horizons obscured by mists of indecision, wrong decision, no decision.
Break through beams. Burst on the road ahead, the road less taken, the road offered, the road detoured, the easy road, the tangled path.
And still the birds sing of my love, of the landscape of my heart.

This poem inspired the heart felt painting below. Honoured to have it go to its new home where the magic and mystery of our West Australian landscape continues to inspire.
