NICA presents its first live public-facing production since 2019: ECLIPSE.

Twelve enduring and talented students have been pressurised by lockdowns into diamonds, ready to showcase a thrilling live performance filled with acrobatics, corde-lisse, trapeze, aerial hoop, tightwire, roue cyr, handstands, foot juggling and hula hoop.

Embark on a journey with us as we explore the story of this changing world. What would we change if we could? What is this ‘new normal’ we face? What world do we want ours to be like?

MAXIMA is seeking EOI's from WA based physical performers who are interested in auditioning for our much loved show CATCH!

CATCH! will be touring regional WA throughout March and April 2022 and we are seeking physical performers who love working with young people, running workshops and touring!

Performers must be available for the full contract (14th March- 15th April 2022).

We're excited to be part of the eight organisations joining the National Performing Arts Partnership Framework.

We'll move from a four year funding agreement with Australia Council and three year funding agreement with the State Government of Western Australia's Department of local Government, Sports and Cultural Industries, to an eight-year tripartite agreement between the company, Federal Government and WA Government, providing funding security and the ability to continue to offer innovative and challenging theatrical experiences.

Our Chair Debra Pigram said, “Marrugeku has developed an extraordinary repertoire of Intercultural, trans-indigenous work, that is carving its touring network globally, from Indigenous communities in the Kimberley, regional Australia, capital cities and around the world. Joining the NPAPF continues this trajectory to be a major participant in the Australian, indeed the global, cultural network landscape. Marrugeku is honoured to be joining such distinguished company”.

- A flier with strong aerial skills
- A middle/base with advanced tumbling skills

Strong performance and movement abilities and being a great team player are essential.

As a Circa Ensemble member, you’ll create and tour a broad range of shows around Australia and around the world (just as soon as we can). Work is full-time, year-round and based in Brisbane. You can learn more about Circa at circa.org.au

Proud to partner with Circus WA in 2020 Bring on 2021!!! 🤩😍🤩👏👏

After a great start to our holiday program and with Fringe at the Freo Big Top and Term One of classes on the horizon we want to take the opportunity to say thank you to everyone who decided to with us in 2020.

Many think of it as a year in lockdown but our top nine reminds us that we were lucky.

We brought in 2020 with tales from Karnidale and Fringe shows presented by many of our trainers and friends and rehearsals for CIRCA's Perth Festival show, Leviathan. We launched the Y16+ program for young people emerging from homelessness, we presented a masterclass run by Maya Tregonning, got virtual during lockdown and then emerged with Home Brew, followed up by our student showcase, the Solos Project with Maxima Circus and our Risk it All day. We got to share our Youth Troupes production 'Ungrounded' directed by Jens Altheimer and featuring the Act Belong Commit Sliders and Colliders youth troupes. We watched our troupe members soar again at the Fremantle Chamber of Commerce Business Arts and the Fremantle Long Table Dinner.

A quiet year at CircusWA? There's no such thing, and that's just how we like it.

Yes, it's been tough!! And as 2020 draws to a close, we stand with our peers & colleagues across the arts sector in acknowledging the extraordinary challenges this year delivered. To our funding, development & presenting partners, to our friends & associates old and new - who literally make the work we do possible...we say Thankyou...WE couldn't have made it without you! May this transition into the new year be one where you get to spend time with those you love, and have the opportunity to rest, recover & regenerate. We look forward to seeing you once more in 2021. MAXIMA is inviting expressions of interest from WA professional circus artists to create a solo work (up to 5 mins duration)
We are seeking fresh ideas from artists interested in exploring the art form of circus and taking their practice in new directions.
Each selected artist will receive a fee and will work with MAXIMA Co-Directors and other creative artists on their proposed work.
Please send your proposal outlining your concept/idea for your piece (up to 300 words max) with an updated, abridged CV to Sally Richardson at [email protected] and Ella Hethrington at [email protected]
