The Kids Access All Areas Vouchers program gives Western Australian children the chance to experience the joy of arts and culture—connecting families with local performances while supporting the creatives who make them possible.

The program provides children aged 5 to 15 with access to arts and cultural events across the State. Parents and guardians can reserve one $50 voucher per child, up to a maximum of four children per household for $200 total.

Families can use their vouchers on eligible arts and cultural experiences, including performances at Arts and Culture Trust (ACT WA) venues.

Upcoming family-friendly events at ACT WA venues include AWESOME Festival at Subiaco Arts Centre and the State Theatre Centre of WA (29 September – 3 October), and Storytime Ballet: The Sleeping Beauty at the State Theatre Centre of WA (8 – 11 October).

Vouchers can be reserved through the ServiceWA app from 27 August.

🎬 Perth Film Studios Careers & Open Days

The Arts and Culture Trust Western Australia (ACT WA) is excited to announce the upcoming Careers and Open Days at the new Perth Film Studios—offering a rare, behind-the-scenes look at one of WA’s most exciting creative developments.

Perth Film Studios will open its doors on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 September 2026 for a two-day celebration of Western Australia’s screen industry, inviting families, students, and the film curious to step inside the State’s world-class production facility.

🎓 Day 1: Careers Day for students—offering insights into the diverse study pathways available at Curtin University, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University, North Metropolitan TAFE, SAE University College, South Metropolitan TAFE, the University of Notre Dame Australia, and the University of Western Australia. Attendees will hear from industry professionals, meet filmmakers, and explore the many roles involved in bringing productions to life - from runner to rigger, programmer to post-production, line producer to location manager, and gaffer to games animator.

🎥 Day 2: Public Open Day—this family-friendly event will transform Perth Film Studios into an immersive experience with entertainment, activities, demonstrations, and hands-on workshops suitable for all ages.

Ben Elton will be a keynote guest at the Open Day on Saturday, taking part in a special in-conversation session exploring his acclaimed career as a writer and producer across television, radio, film, and theatre. The program will also feature special appearances from popular Australian screen productions including Outback Truckers and Whale Shark Jack; The Whale, a giant interactive work by the Spare Parts Puppet Theatre; and A Tribute to BMX Bandits, a stunt showcase by Freestyle Now.

Visitors will discover how stories are brought to life on screen and experience the excitement of a working studio environment.

We'll be sharing some interviews with members of our Subiaco Arts Centre resident company, Yirra Yaakin, to celebrate and reflect on the importance of this week.

First up hear from Artistic Director Maitland Schnaars.

Later this month Maitland directs the WA premiere of Nathan Maynard's 'At What Cost?'; a bold and unflinching play that asks urgent questions about identity and ownership.

You can experience this powerful work 17 July - 1 August at Subiaco Arts Centre.

The Arts and Culture Trust (ACT WA) is delighted to welcome our new CEO, Mr Mark Crees, who has officially completed his first two weeks in the role.

After joining ACT WA on 8 June, Mark has spent his first days connecting with teams across the organisation and this week addressed staff for the first time - sharing his excitement for the road ahead and his vision for supporting Western Australia’s vibrant arts, culture and creative industries sector.

With over 25 years’ experience across government and cultural institutions, Mark brings a wealth of expertise, and we’re confident he’ll play a leading role in shaping the next act of ACT WA’s journey.

We look forward to the energy and leadership he brings as we continue delivering remarkable arts and cultural experiences for our communities.

We also extend our sincere thanks to Courtney Fiddian for her outstanding leadership as Acting CEO over the past four months, her steady hand behind the scenes ensured the show went on seamlessly.

A remarkable performer, choreographer and teacher, and a towering figure in Western Australian performing arts.

Kevan’s legacy lives on through the many productions he shaped, the artists he mentored, and the generosity of spirit for which he was widely admired.

Our heartfelt condolences to Jill Perryman, Tod, Trudy and family at this sad time.
