His Majesty's Theatre, Perth and the Perth Cultural Centre proudly lit up in orange to support 16 Days in WA. This annual campaign runs from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day).

This year’s theme, “Stopping Family and Domestic Violence: Play Your Part,” encourages everyone to take action in challenging the culture, behaviours, and attitudes that contribute to violence against women and children. Now in its 8th year, 16 Days in WA is part of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence, and together, we can drive meaningful change. 🧡

We’re thrilled to share the success of the Creative Pathways panel discussion held on 19 November at Bob Hawke College! This inspiring event connected school students with some of WA’s leading arts professionals, offering invaluable insights into careers in the creative industries.

A huge thank you to our exceptional panelist - Ryan Taaffe, Cezera Critti-Schnaars, Raewyn Hill, Dr Renée Newman, David McAllister AC, Maitland Schnaars, Chris van Tuinen and Rebecca Whitworth - for their wisdom, stories and guidance. As well as our student host from Bob Hawke College, Alyssa Schurmann.

As part of His Majesty's Theatre, Perth's 120th Anniversary, we are celebrating some of our most dedicated patrons. These are patrons who have attended the most shows or purchased the most tickets to events at The Maj over the years.

At various shows this year, these patrons were presented with a pack that included a ‘gold ticket’ – redeemable for two tickets to a performance at the venue, a limited-edition His Majesty’s Theatre 120-year keep cup, drink vouchers for two beverages and a hand-written thank you note.

Venue Operations Manager Alex Lehmann presented Bernard Mearns with his gift pack at Rusalka last month. Bernard is one of The Maj’s most prolific and valued attendees – well loved by our Front of House and Box Office staff; in 2024 alone, Bernard has purchased tickets to 11 shows at The Maj and to 30 shows across all ACT venues!

Bernard was also treated to an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the theatre, giving him a sneak peek of the set and back-stage area.

Other recipients of a loyalty pack this year included Paula Hanson, Alida Reitzenstein, Megan Dodsworth, Roderick Allen and Yannis Vrodos.

Our audiences are the heart and soul of our venues - we can’t wait to celebrate more of them throughout this significant year.

ACT is actively seeking expressions of interest from organisations whose goals align with its own, fostering collaboration and mutual growth for a stronger, more vibrant community.

The Great Family Winter Challenge was a fantastic success at the Perth Cultural Centre, engaging families during the winter school holidays!

Over six action-packed days, around 2,000 participants enjoyed five exciting stations with activities like Egg & Spoon races, Soccer, Mini Golf, Sledding, and Adventure Courses.

The grand finale at the WA Museum Boola Bardip City Room's Victory Station let kids craft their own medals and strike a pose on the podium photo booth, wrapping up the challenge with smiles and celebration!

Exciting progress at Perth Film Studios! Massive steel roofing structures have been installed at our cutting-edge facility in Malaga, marking a major milestone in construction.

Scheduled for completion by late 2025 with operations starting early 2026, these state-of-the-art studios are set to establish a major creative centre for film, television, and digital media production in WA. Spanning 16 hectares near the new Malaga METRONET station, the studios will feature four sound stages and a total of 8,200 square meters of production space. They will also include production offices, workshops, set storage, and a 23,200 square meter backlot—larger than the Optus Stadium playing field.

The State Government has invested $233.5 million into the studios, with the goal being to establish WA as a major creative centre for international and national film, television, and digital media production.

The Arts and Culture Trust will be the owner of the Perth Film Studio, on behalf of the State Government.
