Introducing our collaborative pianist, ✨

Dr Tonya Lemoh, Pianist & Head of Classical Piano, WAAPA

Australian/Sierra-Leonean pianist Tonya Lemoh has performed across five continents as a soloist and chamber musician. She was a member of the piano faculty of Copenhagen University for over ten years, and has given masterclasses and served as piano competition adjudicator in Europe and Australia.
A passionate advocate of Australian music, her doctoral research resulted in a world premiere recording of the complete piano works of Raymond Hanson, which was Editor’s Choice in Limelight magazine. Tonya received a Creative Fellowship Award from the National Library of Australia in 2022, for research into the music of Henry Handel Richardson.

A prize winner in international piano competitions, she has also released numerous solo CDs for international labels Chandos, Naxos, and Dacapo, and most recently a solo album for ABC Classics, “I dream a world”. Tonya has written articles for Limelight, Australia’s leading classical music magazine, and been a guest on Australian and Danish radio/television, including an appearance on Andrew Ford’s The Music Show.

We are extremely excited to have Tonya join us for this recital. She was part of the World Premiere of Closing Time by .fiddes_composer , which will be featured in HOME GROWN as an excerpt. She has also been involved in many recordings and performs all around the world… in fact she has just come back from Germany in time for our rehearsals to start this week.
