Feeling incredibly grateful ✨
Yesterday, I was fortunate to attend the MIFWA celebration for Mental Health Week and experience their incredible "Open Your Mind" poetry competition. ✍️📚❤️

There were more than 60 wonderful poems on display to read, & it was even better to hear some of the incredibly talented poets read their words out loud. 🙏

I am honoured and to share that my poem, 'Silent Still', was chosen for 2nd place! The judges report was poetry in itself by Leonard James. Huge congratulations to all the poets who entered. It takes much courage to share your vulnerability & experiences around mental wellness through poetry. You are all amazing.
MIFWA provides such incredible support and opportunities for guidance with mental health - what a beautiful community.
Oh & there was cake! 🥰

This Saturday is World Mental Health Day & our monthly meditative poetry writing circle will be gently guided and inspired by the beautiful, grounding poetry of Mary Oliver.
In a world that often asks us to move too fast, Mary Oliver’s words remind us of what it means to slow down, listen to our bodies & step into "the family of things." 🌿✨
Mental wellness isn't a journey we have to take alone. Connection, creativity & community are crucial for our mental health, that is what we build together when we write together. Whether you write often have not yet given yourself permission to pick up a pen, you will be warmly welcomed just as you are. ❤️✍️📚☕️❤️

I am incredibly fortunate to facilitate my "Cultivating Calm - Meditative Poetry Writing Workshops" for individuals and organisations worldwide. These sessions are built on three core pillars: connect, create, and calm. By stepping out of the spreadsheet and onto the page, teams can reduce stress, unlock creative thinking, and build a powerful sense of workplace community.
As a former, one could say ‘reformed’ accountant, now international wellness poet and educator, I deeply understand the balance between strategic drive and the absolute necessity for calm. I wrote much of my debut poetry collection, "Flowers from the Farm" right here at Perth City Farm. 🌻

✨If it wasn’t for our weekly meetup, these pages would probably still be locked away inside my mind. Today, this little book has made its way into more than a thousand homes across the globe & taken me to many countries to run poetry circles & opened up a whole world of friendships with other writers. 🌍📖

We have a truly wonderful community of writers that meets at the farm every Thursday at 10 - 11.30am. Together, we write to a series of prompts & share our words whenever we feel compelled. It’s entirely no-pressure, encouraging & warm.

My first ever attempt at watercolour painting! 😆What a treat to sit down & focus on light & shade, then colour under the watchful eye of the amazing kind Catherine Creative Pair Studio in Subiaco.

Thinking to extend our poetic journey into colour ... who is keen to come along? Poet & Paint? Might need a Pinot next time ... & there most definately will be a next time, so if you fancy coming with me, please let me know. 🙏
