I am honoured to say that I have been invited to join the committee of WA Poets - Perth Poetry Festival ✨️💖✍️📚 It is a wonderful inclusive community of volunteers that welcomed me when I started my poetry journey when moving to Perth a few years back. The Perth Poetry Festival is in August & we're fundraising through the ACF to ensure that festival continues running, & our incredible artists are paid what they rightfully deserve. Local, national, and international poets will be featuring at events and workshops across WA. Please support through attendance & the link below in comments to donate Thank you! ✨️🙏 Melissa Domiati

Let’s write together! I'm on my way to Coffee & Thyme on stunning island of Gili Trawangan, off the coast of Lombok, Indonesia.
✍️☕️📚🌴

I’d be honored to welcome you to a poetry circle - creativity, connection & community this Thursday June 18th at 10am.

Poets, wanderers, first-timers & seasoned voices alike, through guided prompts, we’ll explore what wants to surface in the moment, then share if you feel called. Bring an original piece, a poem that moves you, or simply bring yourself, create & listen.

This is a space for woven through language, coffee, the rhythm of the sea & the special horses of this idyllic island.

Please reserve your place via Eventbrite as spaces are limited. Link in bio.

I look forward to meeting you where the words begin.

With warmth, Melissa ✨️💖✨️

Thank you, poets -

To every new face and every regular who joined this morning’s monthly Meditative Poetry Writing Circle - thank you for bringing your words, your quiet, and your warmth.

We started with silence.

We ended with fire.

Here’s the poem we wrote together:

The fire within us

The fire within me
wakes up
when we’re cocooned together bonding, knees tucked
dun coloured throws pulled up
faux fur trim brushing your cheek
hands held around a warm cup.

The world is cold out
yet you radiate warmth
mixing morning cacao
steam curling soft
I sink into velvet ash pillows
a bed of warmth
we built from kindling
trust, presence
the fire catches
unconditional friendship
woodfire pops
marshmallows blush
sugary candy scent
sweetens the air
something swaddling gold
a familiar light
sun stars bodies
just us, held.

The fire within me, free.

Your presence made the room glow. New or regular, you all belong here.

Our next circle is on July 18th.

I look forward to a warm hug, Melissa

Decisions!? ☕️🍰 Which piece of art shall I choose? Brunetti Oro 1956 Carlton, where the rich aroma of authentic Italian espresso meets a gallery of masterfully crafted dolci. ☕️✨

Sitting amid the gentle hum of Melbourne’s iconic café culture planning for this weekend’s poetry circle back in Perth Kinky Lizard.
My delicate, yes I chose pistachio, pastry here tells a story of tradition, passion, and artistry, like the verses we write together in our meditative circles. Yum! Let the indulgence begin.

Above the clouds, where silence lives ✈️☁️ ❤️✍️📚

My favourite view will always be this one: out the window of a plane. The world shrinking, worries dissolving, and everything below turning into art.

Here’s a little poem I wrote, inspired by one of my most favourite books

The Art of Travel - travelling places

There are
few seconds in life
more releasing
or pleasing
than when a plane ascends to the sky.

As I fly
things of familiar size
shrink
as I can now think
I rise
fluently free
of a life wherein
I sometimes hide
somewhat disguised.

Up here
in an altered atmosphere
my mind opens
wanders without impediment
unrestrained
swift ascent
shifts in our lives
imagine
surge above free
from perceived
that which once loomed over me

Above

I look down from
the window of a plane
my eye attempts
to match what it can see
with what my mind knows
should be
could be there all along
If I look hard
(hidden from sight)
our lives this small
(world welive in)
we almost never see
would be there all along.

Partially found poem

Some views don’t just show you the world. They show you yourself.

What’s your favourite view that always resets you?

i can do small talk, if we have to ...

✨️📚 This is my poem for display at the upcoming Alone, Together - Interactive Exhibition on Modern Loneliness. I can't be there in person to read it, so here it is.

For months it’s lived in the space between what’s said & what’s felt
about the ache of being surrounded & unseen & the words we use to keep the silence at bay.
Now, it will have a voice.

I’m unveiling it as part of Alone, Together
A night to sit with the parts of us we don’t usually name.
Grateful to be showing alongside

🗓️ Thu, 18 Jun · 5:30pm – 10:30pm*
📍 The Meeting Place, Fremantle
Via humantix

If you’ve ever mastered small talk but felt miles from connection, come sit with us. Let’s be alone, together.

I hope it reminds you to let the 'big talk' take a breathe ✨️🙏
