Well Versed is a group of mature and experienced performers offering quality entertainment through public readings of poetry. We have now worked together for more than five years to devise and present more than sixty different public programmes, covering the gamut of subjects on which verse has been written, from the learned to the light-hearted. If we are responding to an invitation from a group
or organisation, we consult with them about what would be most suitable for their members. A programme might follow a unifying theme, or one author, or simply a collection of our personal favourites, depending on the occasion. We guarantee that we will bring our chosen verse to life and that the selection will be the best works we know of or have found. We are not ‘shrinking violets’ or ‘woe is me’ practitioners of poetry, we delight in such audience responses as “I had no idea poetry could be so robust” and “It wasn’t like listening to poetry”. We usually offer a presentation which lasts 45 to 60 minutes, with several readers - between four and eight of us. We are available at most times of day, or evenings, including weekends, by arrangement. We expect no personal payment for what we do, but would be pleased to accept a financial contribution to help cover our travel, printing and performance costs, and go towards helping us purchase our own sound equipment.
