Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival celebrates Penola’s rich literary history, artists, live music, performing arts, film, kids activities and Coonawarra’s fine food and wine. The Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival Association Incorporated is a voluntary, non-profit organisation. Since its inception, our Festival has attracted major events and exhibitions that appeal a broad demographic. It is with our s

incere thank you to our Festival’s Friends, Sponsors and Event registrations – thanks for your generosity and patience through COVID-19 and cancellation of the 2020 Festival. Evolving since 1991, our 2015 UNESCO Award winning Festival will celebrate its 30th year in 2022. The Festival has grown to become ”one of South Australia’s leading arts festivals,” said Mrs Helen Rice, Adelaide United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Chairperson. Our Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival was one of four recipients honoured by UNESCO, Adelaide Chapter ‘for an outstanding contribution to the regional cultural life of South Australia, promoting all facets of the Arts, and cultural tourism.’
In 2013 our Festival was awarded an South Australian Regional Award, from Brand South Australia. This award highlights individuals or organisations that have made significant contribution to their region and the State over a twelve month period.

Congratulations to our 2023 Penola Art Prize winner, John Neylon, who has just been awarded the 2026 Winner Fleurieu Art Prize Judges’ Commendation.

The show runs until 5 July at Fleurieu Arthouse McLaren Vale, so if you are nearby, drop in to take a look.

The image is of a timeless scene of beach cricket being played at the close of day with a storm approaching from the west.

The painting is characterised by the same kind of textured paint application evident in John’s entry for this year's PoP exhibition.

This weekend is the last opportunity to see the 2026 Poets of Penola entries, so please pop in.

The Studio is open Friday-Sunday 10-3pm.

Just a heads up, the Studio will be closed this long weekend. Back open on Friday 12 June, 10:00am- 3:00pm.

Hello! Thank you to our past and current volunteers who truly make the cogs of the Festival and Studio turn- you are our backbone and we can't thank you enough!
If you’re interested in joining or continuing with our volunteer family, you can submit your expression of interest/ Studio sign-up, through our website now. By welcoming fresh faces and old hands, the Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival, will continue to grow and support the arts in our region far into the future. There's even a spot for your feedback as a volunteer.
The PCAF committee will then be formalised at the AGM, later in the year.

Drop into Still Water Studio, Monday June 1, from 10:00am-3:00pm to catch the 2026 Poets of Penola Acquisitive Art Prize entries. The Studio will be closed for the long weekend with a four-day patchworking workshop, (from Friday June 5-Monday June 8). Final day of the current exhibition is the Friday June 12, with collection of unsold artworks next weekend! Pop in while you can!
