A MESSAGE FROM THE COACH 🏃♀️
Let’s talk about running ruts.
I’m currently in one.
After 5–6 years of pretty consistent running, I’ve hit a patch where I’m snoozing the alarm more than I’d like to admit and finding it harder than usual to get out the door.
And the numbers don’t lie.
Last year, I averaged just over 60km a week. For the last three months, I’ve been lucky to reach half of that. My fitness score has dropped 46%.
When we live in a world where we constantly collect data, it’s pretty confronting watching those numbers go backwards.
But here’s the thing… I think we’ve all been here.
After some big events in 2025, I deliberately chose not to sign up for anything leading into 2026. And while that’s been good for me, I’ve definitely lost momentum.
There are seasons where motivation is high, and seasons where it isn’t. Sometimes motivation gets us out the door. Sometimes discipline does. And sometimes it’s the people around us.
For me, that currently looks like PRG Social every Monday at 5:30am. I know people will be there waiting for me, so I don’t snooze the alarm. I show up. And right now, that’s enough.
So if you’re in a rut too: tell someone, create accountability, lower the bar, sign up for something. You don’t need a PB. You just need to keep moving. Most importantly, don’t mistake a low-motivation season for the end of your running journey. You’re just in a different season.
Running isn’t always about chasing the next big goal. Sometimes it’s about maintaining the connection with yourself until you’re ready to chase one again.
So, from your coach who is currently right there with you…
Keep showing up.
You don’t have to love every run. You just have to keep the door open for the day that you do again.
And a big shout-out to the PRG family. PRG isn’t about being motivated all the time. It’s about having people around you who help you keep moving when you’re not. 💙💛
