LIGATURE ON THE FURNITURE, A DEBUT SOLO EXHIBITION BY SYED Syed

OPENING HOURS
JULY 12 - 18 | 11AM - 4PM

JULY 19 | 11AM - 9PM (CLOSING NIGHT) - FEATURING MOVING TOO FAST, A 20 MINUTE PERFORMANCE ART PIECE FROM 7- 7:30PM.

ABOUT
In 2024, Syed began reading through a collection of journals he had kept since the age of 14. None of them had been revisited after each entry was written. Reading them years later revealed an unexpected pattern: recurring references to furniture.

Syed brings these timestamps of documentation to life by printing entries, poems and sporadic notes onto the furniture pieces they reference. As the journals accumulated, furniture became witnesses to violence, disordered eating, intimacy and survival.

The closing night performance piece, MOVING TOO FAST contains flashing lights and may affect people with photosensitive epilepsy.
