Merchants of Sound - Saturday 6 - 8pm
Merchants of Sound launched in October 2009 with Phat Kat and Bully Dux at the helm. With a geographic location change and art projects taking them onto another realm they handed over the reins to 3 new regular presenters: Tess Morgan, Samira and Georgie Groovescooter. Samira left after a move to Melbourne & MOS were joined by Sharmaine from The Cut as a regular contributor to MOS in late 2019. Each on rotation, serving it up a musical treat to the East and beyond! Join us every Saturday night 6 - 8pm - immerse yourself into a musical journey spanning soul, funk, boogie, afro-beat, hip-hop & global beats - dusty rarities and classic treats.
Tess Morgan - Tess has been sighted on many a dance floor over the years! An avid, passionate and consistent supporter of live music, festivals, films, visual art and of course community radio, which she has been a part of Eastside Radio for the last 5 years. Tess has then taken these passions further by studying in the arts - acting, music, photography (photographer for local Sydney band Oyobi) and media. Where has this all taken her? Currently she is MC/vocalist for the Inner West Reggae Disco Machine crew, performing and singing with Yacou Mbaye & AfroMbollo as well as Simba Mushete, she is also the host of Queen Bee an all female DJ night that happens monthly at the Hive Bar, an eternal student and dance class enthusiast, she is continuously adding to the list! All the while striving to be kinder and more honest with herself and those around.
Sharmaine aka Wicked Bandit - has been a presenter at Eastside Radio for 4 years, predominantly on her own show The Cut which airs at 9.30pm on Tuesday nights blasting out the best hip-hop. She enjoys collecting and exploring new sounds and styles that she can weave into her own presentation, whether that be lounge, electronica, drum and base, disco, funk, jazz, soul, R&B, or even punk, she can pair it with hip-hop and set a vibe. Professionally Sharmaine also works for community radio; operations of the Community Radio Network, a national content distribution service for the community broadcasting sector, where she hosts her own program and helps produce many others. Is the host for Glebe bookshop Sappho’s Open Stage nights. Sharmaine’s The Cut page can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/thecutradio/
