Today we farewelled our original musical director. Don Bubner OAM went home on July 31st after a very long battle with cancer, and the Owen Institute was filled to the rafters with his friends and family. Fourteen choir members sang 'I Hear Thy Welcome Voice' to a standing ovation, and the two hymns sung en masse sounded incredible. Rest in peace Don 🙏

Congratulations to our APMVC Vocal Scholarship winner, Kenya Styles and also to strong contenders, Melanie Cavanagh and Mia Luppino who performed brilliantly. It was not an easy decision for the adjudicator Kerry Sampson as they were all very deserving.

Kenya has been invited to sing at our final concert.

This was the last APMVC Vocal Scholarship at the 29th Balaklava Eisteddfod on 2nd August 2025. We have sponsored this scholarship for 20 years, starting in 2005 and are sad to announce the forthcoming closure of the Adelaide Plains Male Voice Choir later this year.

Are you are classical singer aged 15-20 years? Entry is still open until Thursday night for the APMVC Vocal Scholarship in this year's Balaklava Eisteddfod. Please consider entering for a chance to be awarded the $1000 scholarship.
There is also the Ralph K Hatcher Memorial Scholarship open to any male 13 & over entering a vocal classical solo. For more details contact Trish Hewett Goodgame or go to the Balaklava Eisteddfod Q & A group.
