Dear Homecooked Comics Festival supporters, I would like to announce a new comics market!

Emerald Hill Comics Festival
11am-4pm Sunday 15th September
Studio Hall (aka South Port Uniting Church Hall),
319 Dorcas St, South Melbourne.

If you are interested in tabling, please fill in the stallholder form here: https://forms.gle/D2ywNMSNiDGDrUFA8
Deadline: Midnight, 2nd August

Why the new venue?
Northcote Town Hall was becoming increasingly expensive, so we found an affordable space, which also happens to be in the same building where Squishface Comic Studio now lives.

Why the new name?
The space is half the capacity of Northcote Town Hall, so it will be a different event to Homecooked, so it seemed appropriate to create something new.

I look forward to reading your applications!
Sarah

I’m writing to let you know that I’m taking a year off from running
Homecooked Comics Festival. The triennial agreement for the Northcote Town hall ended last year. We delivered two festivals during the extended agreement, one in 2019 and the 2022 one.

I had been hoping that I would find the time and energy to find a new venue and create a crowdfund campaign to pay for the 2023 festival but I just haven’t found that extra bit in the tank this year.

I love running Homecooked and supporting others to run it. I love
discovering new books and artists each year. If you are reading this
and you are looking for an interesting, but straightforward, arts
project to sink your teeth into, please consider putting your hand up to run the festival. Myself and the other regular festival volunteers would be very happy to mentor you to do your own version of Homecooked.

I’ll update in early 2024 if Homecooked will be going ahead that year.

See you around at Paper Cuts, Hallowzeen, and Festival of the Photocopier :)

Coming to Homecooked? Don't forget to bring some cash. Coins and small notes very much appreciated!!!

Many of our stallholders will have card payment or direct debit options, but not all, so don't miss out on a great book because you don't have cash.
