The only thing better than supporting your favourite local business? When they support you back.

You may know Bar Biscotti from their cookie croissant that went viral some time ago. Today they’re a highlight in North Strathfield’s Bakehouse Quarter, always bustling with lines out the door and staffed by the nicest team in the biz. Plus their coffee is top-notch.

So it was a joy when Bar Biscotti welcomed my artwork to their walls. You can see five of my charcoal and graphite portraits on display now, all for sale and ready to find their forever homes. I hope you’ll check them out.

New year, new introduction.

Hi, I’m Darren. I’m an artist specialising in portraiture, working mainly in graphite and charcoal. Recently I appeared in the first Australian series of Portrait Artist of the Year, and not long after that held a group art exhibition alongside three other artists from my heat.

I also teach portraiture to beginners, holding classes and workshops for kids and adult learners - basically anyone looking to take their first steps or re-ignite a dormant return to visual arts. And this year, I’m open to commissions for those looking for a bespoke artwork of a friend, family member, or beloved pet.

2025 was filled with wonderful and unforgettable milestones along my art journey, and I hope 2026 will be even better. I’ll be working on another exhibition, and experimenting with different styles, subjects and mediums. Being able to pursue art has meant so much to me and I’d love to help you bring it into your life too. Whether you’re interested in tailored 1-1 lessons, want to be part of a course or workshop, would like a commissioned artwork, or simply want to support me in my journey, I’d love to hear from you.
