Ever started something with an idea then mid-way through questioned everything you ever thought? Here’s a work-in-progress that’s at a crossroads. Lately in my works I’ve been trying to integrate a pop of colour, and right now with this I’m not sure what needs it, or whether the piece needs any colour at all. A sepia/orange background? A deep dark blue dress? Or keep things nice and clean and black and white?

Sometimes art just stays with you. Back in January I held a portraiture workshop at Julie Peadon Art, where a group of young artists created their own interpretations of a couple of my pieces, one of which made an impact on one student. Sophie, also an avid baker, had just saved up for a new stand mixer, but as the months passed the artwork would not leave her mind. So I made her a deal: it’s yours for a cake.

The only thing better than supporting your favourite local business? When they support you back.

You may know Bar Biscotti from their cookie croissant that went viral some time ago. Today they’re a highlight in North Strathfield’s Bakehouse Quarter, always bustling with lines out the door and staffed by the nicest team in the biz. Plus their coffee is top-notch.

So it was a joy when Bar Biscotti welcomed my artwork to their walls. You can see five of my charcoal and graphite portraits on display now, all for sale and ready to find their forever homes. I hope you’ll check them out.
