National Sorry Day is a time to reflect on the ongoing impacts of the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families, communities, cultures and Country. It is also a time to listen, learn, and stand together in truth-telling, healing and reconciliation.

First held in 1998, National Sorry Day followed the tabling of the Bringing Them Home Report, which shared the stories and experiences of the Stolen Generations and documented the devastating effects of past government policies.

Last week, our deadly students Indi and Sophie, alongside our Director Colleen and Engagement Coordinator Tash, had the honour of attending the 13th annual Maybanke Lecture✨

Delivered by Romilly Madew AO, an internationally recognised leader in sustainable development, infrastructure, and the built environment, the lecture was an inspiring celebration of leadership and advocacy.

We are incredibly proud to share that Indi and Sophie are recipients of the 2026 Maybanke Anderson Scholarship at MQ, supporting students pursuing studies in Education.

Pictured with Sophie and Indi, is Jane Spring AM, Maybanke’s great-great-great niece, the caretaker of The Maybanke Fund.

The Maybanke Fund continues to honour the legacy of Maybanke Selfe Wolstenholme Anderson, a trailblazing women’s advocate and social reformer, by empowering future changemakers.

A huge congratulations to Indi and Sophie on this incredible achievement, we are so proud to see you following your path. 💛
